Dad was a Marine. Every time he was stationed in or around DC we went to the Sunset Parades. Almost 70 years ago. It's always a thrill! Then when I and my husband were Marines and were stationed there we made it point to attend!
I was in the Marine Corps Color Guard there at 8th and I st. in 1983 and 84. I remember marching in the Friday Night parades and Tuesday Sunset Parade at the Iwo Jima Mamorial at Arlington. What great memories of that duty I have. What an honor. To all my brothers Semper Fi
July 3, 1988, it was my great honor and great privilege to attend one of these fine events at the Marine Barracks in D.C., where the President's Own performed an absolutely flawless concert. I had tears in my eyes and goosebumps everywhere the entire evening. It was utterly beautiful. #FamilyIsEverything
Forty-Seven years ago today on 28 December 1973, I graduated boot camp Platoon 395, India Co, 3rd Bn, MCRD Parris Island Oct-Dec 73. Thanks Ssgt Stewart Ssgt Johnigon Sgt Valentine Sgt Guest. Semper Fi
Some civilians may call this excessive and a waste of time but not me, in this time of mask wearing, social distancing and always being careful who we associate with I find these parade sessions vital to our nation's USMC staying proficient and sharp in their ceremonial duties, Semper Fi Marines and thank you for lifting the spirits of Americans everywhere!
In February, 1972, I got TAD Orders from Camp Lejeune for an interview at 8th & I. I had no idea what to expect. I reported in and I stayed in Bldg 58 down at the Navy Yard. Later that week, I met with Capt. Jones, who went on to become CMC. Then I met with the C.O. of MCI Company. I was told during both interviews that the "Barracks" needed a Platoon Sergeant. Later that week I returned back to Camp Lejeune. About a week or so later my 1stSgt called me to his office. When I reported, he smiled and asked me if I wanted to go to Marine Barracks 8th & I? I was totally shocked, however I replied yes. So, in March, 1972 I reported for duty as First Platoon Sergeant, MCI Company. "Out of 1700 records screened for one brother", and they chose me! It was an honor and a pleasure to serve at The Post Of The Corps from 1972-1975. Back then we were all Vietnam veterans. This April I turned 78 years old. Semper Fidelis
That was actually insane when the marine was flipping his rifle and threw it to the other marine in front of him like actually how do they do that without messing up I was in awe the whole time that is extremely impressive
Such an amazing breathtaking video! Much love, honor, respect and appreciation deep from my heart for all of our Marines and Veterans for their bravery and service to protect our country here in the United States of America! 👊💪😎🙏😇🇺🇸💯
I was in the Public Affairs Office from 04 - 08, and watching this video was the first time I've ever watched a whole parade. Thanks bringing back all those memories.
This was such an amazing performance to see live. I've watched it on Facebook several times, but finally checked for it here, on RU-vid. Thank you for such a great memory!
The silent drill team is beyond belief...they must have a keen sense of rhythm and an absolute commitment to perfection! Impressive is too poor a word for their excellence... 🇺🇸

I was the 2000-2002 P4 Orgs Bearer. This is the first time seeing the Friday Night Parade in about 20 years. Little has changed. Brings me chills. Semper Fi!
I can’t imagine how many times they rehearsed this. I remember just doing a ceremony for a Msgt that we all dreaded cause of how many times we rehearsed and it was only 30 minutes long. This is over an hour lmao
