This is exactly the kind of talent we're trying to attract to and retain within the Marine Corps Reserve.
Visit www.mcrc.marin... to learn about The Direct Affiliation Program, one way for Marines leaving active-duty service to have a seamless and deliberate transition of their careers into the Reserve Component at a unit and location of their choosing.
Opportunities, benefits, and comradery are available with continued service in U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

How is life as a reserve officer? The one year active duty experience tour seems like a great way to train orficers as opposed to those in the other reserve components.

Not pictured: The fact that everyone else spends all drill weekends being told to hide from SNCO's in a random bay somewhere. and 90% of drill weekends are spent trying to find another "hip pocket" class to teach so when SNCO does open that hidden closet door you're not having your ass handed to you for not doing shit, even though you were literally told to go hide. Also, you will spend far more time in Marine Forces Reserve practicing janitorial skills than whatever job... especially if it's communications. Also.... WTF, we used to recruit with lava monsters now it's field trips to radio shack?

Completely missed by you: The point that we are looking to recruit and retain highly-skilled, self-motivated, talented individuals such as this active duty Marine to our Direct Affiliation Program. The ultimate goal: to completely change the bleak, indifferent picture depicted in your comment. It won’t happen overnight, but change will happen. We invite you to read and share CMFR’s Campaign Plan 2030 for a better idea of what to expect. bit.ly/3NZnu5d

@@MarineForcesReserve I feel like it is a rock and a hard place. Even though the military compensates very well. The problem is people associate military with war and death. Which is not true until ones in the war zone. Even then most don't go to the hell of a war zone. Shen I tell people in my civilian job about my Military career. They always asking if I am going to war. Especially when any so called tensions rise in the world. How does one not get to be afraid to not join the military and get people like that CPL. Because in 4 years when the contracts up. The reserves just lost an engineer and he going somewhere that pays even higher and better compensation. If the military wants more of these guys. The goverment has to one up cooperate America. Not by a little by a huge margine OR change the image of marine corps so it not seemed like joining is death trap waiting to happen as that isnt true. . As the compensations gets better. The reserves can be more picky on who to choose. Just getting them in. Retaining is whole other story. Now the corps needs to really compensate for the re enlistment or people are going to leave. I think huge one is. Well the ones that require high demand skill in civilian world get payed huge. Why stay in the military if I can go somewhere better. Get treated better. Get payed better. And I still get all my veteran benfits.

@@5DollarsUp Hayden, thanks for the well thought out response. We appreciate your feedback, and will include it in the conversations we’re having at the headquarters level, as we look to overcome this challenge. Best wishes in whatever future endeavors you choose. 👍🏻
