Being a Marine has changed also. Marines used to be pressers (people who cudgelled young men and kidnapped them to make up slave crews), putting down mutinies and boarding enemy vessels.

Pretty much immediately following Joe Biden's inauguration he made very clear that he believed the United States Marine Corps was an antiquated fighting force that did the same exact job as the United States Army and did not need to exist. Officials in leadership in the Marine Corps have discussed that the Marines could live on with some of its Traditions but not all of its traditions and Heritage by integrating with the US Army or Navy. Example would be the US Marine Corps could integrate into the army airborne and still be able to use the eagle to Anchor in the globe is their symbol to represent their heritage but they would be strictly Army troops not known as the Marine Corps anymore it would just be a symbol of the past or Pilots could still wear their Marine uniform in the Navy but the actual Marine Corps would no longer exist. The Biden administration made the Marine Corps began divesting its tanks and reducing its artillery cannon battalions and infantry units. The efforts commanding Gen. David Berger’s plan to phase out the Marine Corps calling it a "antiquated fighting force" along with United States President Joe Biden. The Marines have as of today reduced their number of infantry battalions from 24 to 20, artillery cannon batteries from 21 to 5 and amphibious vehicle companies from 6 to 3 among other cuts such as getting rid of the United States Marine Corps Battle Tanks among other things greatly reducing the USMC ability to fight and win America's wars. The Marines will continue to downsize. The goal is to completely phase out the United States Marine Corps from existence. The US Marine Corps will soon in American history be no more. Mental cases of any kind are a severe drain on combat readiness and unit cohesion. Just because solid people keep quiet, knowing that speaking up will bring nothing but negative heat on them, doesn't mean that they aren't being demoralized. Satisfaction with military service seems to be approaching a record low...and it's not just a pay issue, not by a long shot.

Why not let the recruits do whatever the hell they feel like doing during boot camp while the DIs do the PTs, marching, trainning and take the classes. The recruits will be in paradaise, just sleeping, eating, sun bathing, drinking, smoking pot and playing "grab ass" the whole time at the PI and San Diego luxury resorts. On graduation day they'll sing "🎶make love not war🎶".

My son retired a couple of years ago after 23 years in the USMC. He reached the rank of Master Sergeant and has shared with me that he would never enlist, or encourage anyone else to enlist, in todays Corps or, for that matter, any other branch of the military.
Wow this is pretty crazy, I've been retired for 10 years now and one thing about being in the Marine Corps is that life is kinda suppose to walk that fine line of always being stressed..so long as you have good leadership that you trust that'll go through it with you if need be.

Four years in the Corps (61-65), Thirty two in the Army, and Army National Guard for me. We are done, done as a Corps, as an Army, done as a culture, and soon to be done as a Nation. As a Marine (retired), this is absolutely the way to weaken the Corps. It started with integrating female Marines into combat roles (disaster), and now sending female Marines to MCRD San Diego…however, integration isn’t actual integration because the female Marines don’t have the same physical requirements as male Marines do. They want it equal, raise the bar, don’t lower it. 20 pull ups, 100 crunches, and an 18 minute 3 mile run for a 300 PFT, no exceptions. Don’t like it, join another branch…a lesser branch.
