By the time we had switched from the M-14 to the M-16, ( April 8th ), we also had switched from the 'Old Pineapple' grenades to the M-26 Frag grenades. 2. The showing of 'curved' 30 mags is also B.S., we only had straight 20 round Mags. If you had been there you would've known that. Inaccurate movie. The patrol should have a 5 meter minimum space between Marines. M-16 magazines with 20 Round ( Usually 18) capacity. Grenades are the old Mark 2 which were not used In Vietnam. The M-26A1 were used and never carried on the flak jacket. Former Grunt 0311, U.S.M.c.

Hmm. I'll be generous and say that the initial fusillade of the ambush wasn't too badly done. However, everything else was garbage. From the shiny, metallic magazines to the point man not actually being on point ...not to mention the VC not knowing their own ambush site (despite having carefully staged it) and then failing to locate the enemy (one critically wounded) literally right under their crafty little DIY flipflops. Lol, it's not like I was expecting anything less.

most ppl are used to be US beating up the enemies and always winning, i understand that this clip is unrealistic but sometimes, i think some movies need to have balance in who wins and who loses, because in most vietnam war movies, the vietcong are so easily killed which is wrong because the vietcong were quite good warriors
Some 1,1 Million North Vietnamese and Viet Cong fighters were killed compared to the 58K US Military that were KIA that's about a 1-20 Kill ratio for US which is pretty damn good if you ask me
@@younginsane90 in 1968, there were 500000 US troops fighting, not to count Republic of Vietnam army (start at 1-2 milions, but a lot of troops deserted) and ROK army joining in(around 100-200 thousand)

The amount of people in here hating on a 20th century movie is astonishing. I’m assuming the majority of y’all in here bitch throughout movies like ‘DeadPool’ or ‘Mission Impossible’ because the stunts they perform are fake. No shit it’s unrealistic, that’s why it’s A CINEMA. If you wanna watch something realistic go to the YT search engine and look up “Military GoPro” and spend the next hour or so watching lengthy GoPro footage of soldiers in firefights with targets over 200+ yards away.
