Hey JJ, i've been using the marineland 360's for probably 15 years, the red turn valve disconnect switch stops water from flowing so you can leave your hoses in your tank. If you put a sponge filter on your intake pipe, (see aquarium coop vid's) it will help keep alot of debris out of the filter and then you only need to clean the sponge filter and less often clean the whole canister filter, save time, worked great for me.
You don't have to pull your plumbing out of the tank. You can leave that all in place and use the quick disconnect housing on the lid. This keeps the siphon in place too if both intake and output stay under the water line, it helps start up be less problematic to reestablish the siphon, little to no priming then. The lever on the input/output housing in the lid closes ball valves so it can just hang there while you do your maintenance.
So far so good with the marineland magniflow 220! You can get yours here: amzn.to/40dzHsv Find JJ Gills on Facebook: facebook.com/JJGillsAquatics JJ Gills Aquatics Store: www.jjgills.shop
Bro my filters brand new and for some reason it stops pumping water while still plugged in and it sucks. Priming it and starting to again works but it stops again later. HOW DO I FIX THIS
@@JJGills I just set it up bc I got for only $55 today…couldn’t pass it up! They will be in a new tank soon. But they need it bc you know they are cute lil pigs 😆
Truth be told, if your tank is solidly established, it's not going to crash your cycle to use tap water, but it's always best to lean on the side of caution
The motor on this thing seems weak. The impeller will often stop and I've noticed when cleaning it that sometimes the only way I can get the impeller to rotate is by taking the cover off the canister and then removing the retaining clip over the impeller and put it back with the impeller spinning. I then have to keep the motor running "dry"...put the lid back on and then prime the pump to get it moving water again...all while the motor is running dry. That's ridiculous. This is a 6-month, unused canister filter so sadly I can't return it.
Is the impeller magnetically driven like the Marineland HOB filters are? If so, removing it and cleaning the impeller and housing should fix this. On the HOB filters it’s designed that way to prevent motor burnout if the impeller gets jammed.
