This video encapsulates the fact that Dream Team had some of the best Boss intros in the series. Every single one of them had a "three stooges" kind of comedy that just works and clicks... And somehow made encountering the bosses feel way more special that they are.
Yeah, they definitely felt more natural in that context. They didn't feel forced, like there was a purpose and a goal for all the bosses. The game was well written and i liked the mechanics and graphics forsufe
49:55 I love how the animators drew Mario and Luigi standing casually and doodling in the sand. I don't think it's anywhere else in the game, but it fits the theme of the situation so well and I'm so glad that they added it in. Even if it was for a one-off joke.
12:35 I love how the final hit was a 10 damage hammer to the hand They don't give up after tanking a giant luiginary ball to the face, but that little hit makes them end the battle
I wish he was in the Battle Ring, and I also wish they brought the "Evil Mario clone created by the Villain" concept in other games, such as Origami King Imagine:King Olly appears in Sweetpaper Valley and after the whole spiel with Olivia,he doesn't drop the boulder but unleashes an Origami clone of Mario:Origami Mario can use all the attacks Regular Mario can do up to that point in the story and has the 1000-Fold Arms as his Ultimate Attack:you can't Hammer him since Olly surrounded him with a Force Field, only vulnerable at the Top To defeat him,you have to use the Earth Vellumental,so that he trips and King Olly is blown away from the field in the process After defeating Origami Mario,Olly drops the boulder and the game goes on
I’d consider him to be the true first boss, the first two were just learning about attacks and badges, meanwhile Dreamy Mario has no interruptions. (Of course the giant fights are a different story)
1:55:53 Bowser: *Chasing and Breathing Fire at Mario & Luigi* Bowser: “I’m about to squish you!” Bowser: *Steps on Castle Spike* Bowser: *Goes flying* Mario & Luigi: *Begin to run back*
gotta say i really cant handle nostalgia well and this game is just something unlike any other. Coming back to the bosses and the themes to go with them is just incredible! Wish games were still made to this quality and passion instead of just on how much profit it will give the company...
Man... everytime I hear the boss theme from this game I remember the first time getting this game back in Summer 2013. I still feel like crying everytime I remember that moment till this day. It doesn't help that Alphadream went bankrupt. The M&L games were filled with so many original characters and original lore. It's very similar to the early Paper Mario games. So similar in fact, Alphadream decided to cross those two RPGs together in a game for the 3DS (Mario & Luigi Paper Jam).
I remember i begged and begged my parents to get me the game once i finished the demo. And once i got it, i was jumping up and down of excitement! Its such a good game, the OST is amazing, and it makes me cry of nostalgia when i listen to it. It’s bittersweet, knowing i won’t ever have the same joy as i did before.
Something I like about the first Antasma fight is that Luigi dreamed it. I mean, seriously, it's literally all a dream by Luigi, and right after the fight you find out nothing happened and that the blimp flight was a safe trip. Luigi literally predicted this game's main antagonist. (That or Dreampoint shenanigans, but oh well.)
No, I know that dream team is way better, but I cannot STAND dreambert, halfway through I modded my 3DS and got both a moon jump code and a walk through walls code to speed things up a bit.
One funny thing I noticed during the "Repel the Shell!" segment in the Giant Bowser fight was that when Luigi started spinning, his hammer disappeared.
You might never regain childhood innocence and whatnot, but its really all in your mindset, the brain can perceive present games to be just as fun Totally know what you mean though, some games I liked back then lost their appeal on me today
Tbf it isnt like paper mario Where the quality of the game divebombed into the ground After the 3rd one Its more bis was so good it ended a great trilogy
I think that counting the amount of boss themes in M&L series, you can put them to any boss in any game and at least one or two will be good. But yeah this one is a true banger
I played this game all the time when I was 13-14 years old. I used to quote the game all the time and hum the game's music. My favorite song was Dreamy Pi'ilo Castle. My favorite boss had to be Pi'ilodium mainly for the quotes. "Chance of my victory: 120%", "Uncertainty rising", "Chance of my victory: slim", "Foe still active - why?", and finally "Query?!".
The M&L games were filled with so many original characters and original lore. It's very similar to the early Paper Mario games. So similar in fact, Alphadream decided to cross those two RPGs together in a game for the 3DS (Mario & Luigi Paper Jam) I'm actually not sure how well the game did but it was really a great surprise to see the M&L universe meet the Paper Mario universe.
1:50:04 It’s giving Starlow’s pea-sized brain too much stress to not verbally destroy Luigi’s happiness. The good thoughts are near overridden when Luigi is happy.
@@paulgentili1425 It is, and I almost didn't go for it on my second attempt on doing the fight, but it made a huge difference (plus I did MASSIVE damage with Spin Drill, so I got to skip like half the fight. This was all done just today as of typing this.
It's cool how there are three kinds of final clashes for one of each of battle styles in this game. First case, giant dreamy version, second case, regular dreamy version, final case, real world version.
I know some are pointing out the Robo-Drilldigger unavoidable blast as damage, but it's unavoidable and not even damage, just part of a cutscene disguised as damage. You can let every single Robo-Drilldigger attack to that point hit you and the cutscene attack still won't KO you. Immediately after you go into a rhythm mushroom tutorial, making it if anything an unavoidable *healing* section and you do this over and over until your whole meter is filled _and_ it doesn't even count as a turn (you get to attack _immediately_ afterwards).
19:52 For those who didn't play the game or going nuts after seeing this, this sequence is 100% scripted. No matter what happened, you'll always taking damage when Robo-Drilldigger will using this attack for the first time.
1:11:59 Funny thing, I actually never triggered the self destruct sequence because I dealt the boss 400 critical dm with an excellent slingshot and the boss died.
Anyone notice that Luigi was able to dream up Super Antasma? Super Antasma never existed, so Luigi either: 1. dreamt of the future,or 2. he's a victim as Antasma entered his dream to cause a nightmare, only to get destroyed by Dreamy Mario (Luigi's perception of Mario in dream form)
He pisses the bastard moth off so he’s more of a nuisance then a proper ally. Attacking him cancels his turn thus stopping the rage, but I felt guilty because of his spirit.
@@supermaximglitchy1 ? Isn’t that boring though? I tend to avoid as much conflict as possible, yet still am strong enough to make progress for some strange reason! This doesn’t just apply in this one game, it applies to all game dimensions!!!
I remember when I was young playing this game It was my first introduction to Popple, and I thought it was his debut game Then I saw gameplay of Superstar Saga and was like "wait, was I supposed to know who this guy was?"
What makes dream team my favourite mario and luigi game is how creative the enemies/bosses were and the music. I could listen to those battle themes for ages, plus antasma is my boy Edit: the humour as well. amazing game.
Loved this game. The music, gameplay, story. So much potential for a part 2. The only thing this game did not need was the giant Luigi battles. This is Bowsers type of battle. They could have easily came up with something for Luigi. That and the battles take wayyy too long. Plus if you thought the giant Luigi battles were bad, try the mode where you face stronger versions of them with a limited number of turns. You'll see how bs those battles can be.
nah the giant battles are great, they develop luigi character, it goes from luigi is scared to him earning the confidence to help his bro... anyways the gameplay of the giant battles is also good, the only "bad thing" is about not missing an attack or defense because it would kill you or you could do 0 damage
@dothe564style gonna have to disagree. Giant form has always been Bowsers thing. Not Luigi. His Luiginary powers were just perfect for that. The giant battles to me were just a recycled concept because people loved it in Bowsers Inside Story.
36:34 For some reason, this sound is so much more satisfying than lucky hits. I looked far and wide for this specific sound effect and found nothing. Are all sound effect dumps of this game incomplete?
I kid you not i have played this game 3 times in between 3 months and im currently trying hard mode for a 4th playthrough now BECAUSE DREAM TEAM IS SO DAMN GREAT HOW COME YALL HATE IT
I love Dream Team. The main reason I think people dislike it is because of the LONG tutorials which I admit is a problem but it personally doesn’t bother me that much. Also a lot of people prefer Bowser’s Inside Story but personally I like Dream Team better.
The only boss i wasn't able to make a no damage is Pi'illodium because of his "hammer" attack (he fly ups with a countdown and falls over Mario or Luigi)
PEOPLE HE DID TAKE NO DAMAGE FOR 19:59 THERE IS NO WAY TO AVOID THIS ATTACK (also its impossible to not take damage in the giant bowser fight thanks to the spear guys)

49:59 It's Private Goomp, corporal Paraplonk and Sergeant Guy from Bowsers inside story! 50:09 AND THEY HAVE A BANZAI BILL BLASTER!!!! ( only inside story players will understand the reference)
I remember playing Dream Team as an 8 year old as my first 3DS game. It hit harder than expected but I was still a bit biased towards PiT at the time. Edit: I typed DS instead of 3DS. My mistake.
