Gambling in sports in Australia is way out of control, you can't watch sports without being bombarded by gambling ads. Sort of like drug advertisements in America.
Whenever I stream British soccer I'm always struck by how many gambling ads there are as well. Like literally every other ad is some gambling website. In Canada (where I am) that's just not a thing. It's also like that when you watch American channels and there are so many damn prescription/health insurance ads.
Hey Pat, Ryan from Detroit here. All the automakers here in the motor city are having to temporarily shutdown multiple plants for about 6 weeks because they don't have enough microchips to run production either.
I recently did a digital tech conference and it just wasn’t the same. Where’s the body odor!?! It was also a little anemic on info, overall a little strange.
I'm in the minority Pat. But I real loved the N64 Castlevania titles with their great stories and characters and straight horror. Shame that game was cancelled.... Could have fixed every issue.
Agreed about the Metroid game. I mean, copyright law and trademark law aren't rocket science. Especially when you spend 15 damn years on a project, you can't be so ignorant that you think you're going to get away with it. What are these people hoping to accomplish? That the big N is going to bless their project? When has that happened? Not once, as far as I know. I just don't understand it.
I can still hardly believe that Mario 35 is now gone. I honestly cannot fathom Nintendo's logic for making it a limited time thing. It makes ZERO sense. I truly hope they wise up and re-release it on the EShop at some point. If the fan backlash is big enough then perhaps they will. I truly hope the fans got good & loud over this one to make Nintendo take notice...
This is not a dig at Microsoft - but as Ian said, its a really easy thing to say "i care about old games" and give yourself a free point. They dont care anymore than Nintendo or Sony. But they NEEDED the old games last gen because they had really weak software sales. All 3 companies are pretty bad at it to be honest. Facts: Microsoft has never made a completely backwards compatible (all games work from disc) console like Sony has. The launch PS3 was awesome, but also a huge flop that made people question "what the hell Sony was doing" and they were a laughing stock at $599 when they came out. So Jim Ryan is very right to say that most gamers dont want to play these old games - as Sony suffered that first hand. Sony also makes no money off allowing you to play old games they dont sell - thats where MS was smart - they put many games in their backwards compatibility program and resold them to you. Yes, Xbox had 360 games in Xbox One cases to be sold at full price ($30) at retail. Weird! -- So yes you can use your old discs (for the very specific compatible games) but they want to resell you those games as much as possible. Sony had the BC PS3 and lost money on each one made. So who really cared more? on top of that, only 17% of Xbox/360 games are in the program. The rest dont work. So again, full BC liek PS3 is awesome - but Xbox is no where near close. And some huge titles are absent from that program. Its literally like 39 games from Xbox (which is PS2's era); Sony has more PS2 games than that for sale on the PS4 at about 50 I believe? So you cant use your disc, but it is more games from the era. Xbox has not put a new game into that service since 2019. They made the existing ones work well, run better, now to the cloud - but its still missing like 60% of 360 games... Sony does also have about that many games on PSNow from the PS3/360 era. Its about dead even. Again, no I don't want to play them on Now, but if they got Now working well (downloadable PS3 games, or better streaming, maybe via Stadia's tech?); then you pay one super low price and get access to like 400+ PS3 games. Xbox you do have to own them each individually (unless like Now they put them all on Gamepass). So is now equal to what Microsofts doing? no but 1) its been around longer than Gamepass, 2) it exists so to say they dont care or have it at all is simply wrong. I also think that their old catalog will be put out on PS5 eventually to combat Gamepass. That's just me thinking logically, no inside knowledge. Lastly - as Ian said, the Wii store has been down for 2 years. Xbox has a ton of missing games off the 360 store (at least i cant see them to purchase on PC or on my Xbox One), where as Sony said they'd take the store down (dont blame them), but recanted now and its staying up! So Id say Sony is at least equal if not perhaps ahead in their lifetime of caring for classics. they seem to do enough remakes ha-ha. Nintendo is by far the worst, just re-selling you ports but very little cohesive BC. I can imagine the Switch's next console having no place to put a game at all. heck I bet "Switch Pro" will divide this current gen and have games the older model wont be able to play.... Both Sony and Microsoft are great about going from PS4, Xbox One -> PS5, Series X. Not only does it play all the games this gen, they play them better in many cases. This is the first gen ever to do that right? PC has some of the best preservation - but even there it needs maintenance, games do go down, and with no work games become incompatible. Soul Revear is a perfect example Square just took it down off Steam so they could make a new updated version for Gog, and they put that version back on Steam. So its not just automatic. So no one company is perfect at all, it all takes lots of work. PC is probably where it will last the longest for old games. But going forward the big consoles should at least be bringing your digital titles forward. not 100% sure how Microsoft got control of this narrative that they are the BC friendly ones? Factually they are not much better - but they are the last ones where you see yourself popping in a game, and i honestly think so few people DO play these old games, that most people have the false pretense that its like the whole library - as a guy who didn't look at the list (liek a dummy) and bought a bunch of (now useless) 360 games, I can tell you its far from the whole library!
jesus my dad used to listen to mike and the mad dog when he drove me home from school. I hated it lol. I'm not a sports person whatsoever so that shit used to put me to sleep.
people are mostly wanting to see the React Andy show when watching streamers, so unless you're interested in over-reacting during the Ninty Direct on twitch, then don't bother.
Forgotten weapons should be exempt as its historical and educational. The gun fetishist channels where they just talk about new guns and crap. Other then that RU-vid MUST fix its fair use copyright stuff. Siding with dmca strikers by default is so dangerous allowing corporations to strike anything they do not like. SO MANY obviously fair use videos get strikes
That's exactly the problem that ruin RU-vid for everybody, honestly without criticism we wouldn't have nice things and companies would get away with so much crap it's ridiculous, honestly I'm glad that people can voice themselves, for better or for worse it's done more good than bad.
Car companies DO NOT HAVE A CHIP SHORTAGE. They estimated less cars being bought/produced. So they ordered less. So now they dont have the stuff they need. The chips the would have ordered where bought out so the car companies screwed themselves.
Honestly.... If Nintendo cares AT ALL about it's fans, instead of shutting down fan projects like that Metroid Prime 2D game, why not bring them aboard and help them release the title digitally for Nintendo? That would make all the sense in the world for them to do! Everyone makes money, the fans get a game they want, and everyone's happy! I truly don't see the fault in this unless they believe the game doesn't hold up to their own quality standards.
The Mario 35 thing really pisses me off. Thing is, if their plan is to eventually come out with a paid version of the game (via release or service), I will grit my teeth and pay it because it is that much damn fun (even though they should do improvements, like private games and such). But they wont. Because its Nintendo, who hates money and common sense for some reason
lol game preservation "terrorists." Don't get me wrong it would be great to have the ROM publicly available, but comparing those people to terrorists is absurd.
@@robertmcknightmusic You don't get it. We have a problem in these one of a kind Prototype carts where people try to sell them for code they don't own. They want to be paid more than fair price for a retro game because they know if they aren't paid this ransom fee it's gone forever. All the discs owner should be entitled to is money for a prototype game not paid extra for code on that disc.
@@Wallyworld30 lmao I totally get it. It's disingenuous to compare that to actual terrorism because it trivializes the word. You're talking about the loss of a TOY compared to the loss of human life. Come on.
The match fixing thing is probably even worse than we think. Unless you're playing very specific games at the highest level it's not a lucrative career and you'll be in your prime for what, 5 years? You'll be out of it completely before you exit your 20's for sure. Unless you can land some gig within the esports industry or strike it lucky with streaming you've got zero marketable skills coming out of esports. The players know that so of course match fixing is rampant, it's probably the easiest way to cash in for most of them.
I am mostly upset about the Vita store going away and probably the library inevitably. A couple of years ago I bought 64gb cards for it at $120 AUD I was going to buy more last year now they are insane prices for authentic cards even second hand. Like $300+. That's insane for 64gb. This proprietary memory is the biggest dumb ass decision by Sony. Now if they energising take the library away how do they expect Vita owners to have all the games they purchased. Spending thanks on the same amount of memory you could buy at 5-10% the cost if it was not proprietary! Plus there would never be enough to go around obviously so prices for 64gb cost more than a Nintendo Switch. At least Nintendo was smart enough to sell Switch with only 32gb so the price was cheaper & save on it as price drops & tailor how much you need or can spend. I remember stupid people complaining at launch though. I bet they are not complaining today since even in my chubby you can get 512gb quite cheap.
I love the energy surrounding the first two rounds. Wall to wall basketball. I still enjoy it further on in the tournament, but there's less to distract me if I'm not into a particular game.
I'm a midwesterner but a sports radio junkie so I absolutely got the Francesa talk, good stuff! Love that you guys are up on sports in addition to gaming.
PC Gaming is hurting really badly right now because of the parts shortage. A low level $250 graphics card like the GTX 1660 is going for the price a top end graphics card like the RTX 3080, over $600. And things are projected to stay that way for a very long time.
The best show on WFAN was and will forever be the post Mets game loss therapy sessions with Steve Somers. An era truly died when the Mets got booted off the Fan.

My niece had a switch and I was supposed to go out with this girl, she was coming in 2 hours, I got so sucked into Mario 35 it felt like 15 minutes and she showed up and I wasn't ready. I decided that day that I wanted to buy a switch to play Mario 35, they were sold out everywhere so I haven't gotten one yet. Now I'm so bummed to hear that they cancelled it. So weird that I almost bought this console because I was sold on Mario 35 it was so addictive
"Drug" is the problem. The word. Because sugar caffeine cannabis alcohol are ALL "drugs" yet we for some reason make distinctions. ALL substances should be avalible tp adults and we need to use the wasted taxes for the war on drugs to educate people on effects/risks of substances. Its 100% proven than would reduce crime, child drug use, and overdoses. If it was taxed and regulated EVERY plant and substance then it would be 1000% safer. There is zero ZERO argument that is based in science that is against that. Even heroin when used clean with access to consistent strength and clean needles is not NEARLY as toxic as alcohol. Its insane cannabis is still illegal as we know 100% it was banned to protect cotton and paper industries. The fact we let ppl ride bulls or jump out of planes as adults but don't alter your mind thats bad is disgusting.
You can still easily download AM2R with a simple google search. I have no doubt the 2D Metroid Prime will be the same. Once it's been released once, it will live on the internet for some time (if not forever)
I really want the pocket but sold out soo quickly, I refuse to pay a scalper for one so I will hope that Analogue does indeed do future runs of this handheld. I believe they have said they will, but it will take time.
I am disappointed in the Analogue for the delay. But other game systems are being delayed. Which is also frustrating. I just hope the Analogue is released this year.
The answer to them backing up Castlevania was no. They now have an auction online trying to sell it. Whether it gets in the hands of someone willing to dump it is unknown..
Yup, the seller is also being hostile towards people asking for it to be backed up, telling them the value of it being one of a kind is worth more than it being preserved..
