@@MissyMuthaTruckiNseen them 5 times in the span of about 10 years and he’s only gotten better. I won’t lie and say I’ve loved every musical direction they took with the last few records but Mario’s unbelievably tight playing is a constant and their live shows only get better over time

@@zachjohnson5494 I agree 100 percent, I like the older stuff better but seeing them at a 500 person venue back in like 2010 then watching them at a giant outdoor venue last year. Seeing their staff show evolve has been insane

that's because in gojira songs guitars set the rhythmical base of the song with simple riffs and the drums go wild over it. while generally it is the other way around in mainstream metal. drums are the lead instrument in gojira songs

I'm not even a drummer, but that intro on "Art Of Dying" is utter madness lol. How it's humanly possible to play such a complex pattern, let alone write it, just blows my mind. Mario deserves the recognition he's been getting the last few years, one of the most creative drummers out there!

Just so you know, Mario loves Lars. I know it's always easy to talk poorly about Lars, but I saw Metallica w. Cliff Burton and nobody was talking any negativity then. Lars was a tennis player as a kid/teen. Mario played soccer. Metallica asked Gojira to open for them on a world tour. Mario is a loyal humble guy. He never says anything negative about other drummers, and as a kid Lars was his favorite. The US is lucky Lars moved there with his Euro metal stuff, or we'd be watching Poison flounce around... and Hetfield and Cliff would have been long haul truckers. RESPECT.
