Any other drummers here notice like at 0:58 that his kick drum mic cable just disappears into an unported (no hole) reso Tama head? And that the Tama logo never really moves with him stomping the kick? It's known he rarely uses a reso head on the kick in the studio, so did Tama Green screen one in post production to get their logo more visible? It's weird....
@@soulintake Go watch the other video they did few days ago. You can see the drums from another perspective and there are actually the resos and portholes. In this video they captured it weirdly
@guillaumepoulin3522 I've watched that performance probably 100 plus times now, still blows me away. Austin Archey from Lorna Shore is another one that has a few playthrough videos I'm still trying to find the lower half of my jaw after watching too.
It‘s not only the question : can you play it First you have to find the style and more than that do u hit the drums like him and have the same sound I‘d seen six six yesr old drummer very technical but no real sound Soorry for my english I‘m French Beside that do you have the sound on your drums its a big part of the artistc approach
@@sempriniaftershave9825 hell yeah!!! I saw them on tour with slipknot. They only got in like 5 or 6 songs so I was a little disappointed but still totally stoked to see Gojira! That’s actually why we went to begin with. But yeah they had full energy regardless of having an opener slot.
@@sempriniaftershave9825hell yea. That tour this summer was freaking amazing, one the best I've seen overall. Every band absolutely destroyed from top to bottom
He's a beast on the drums, one of the best, but when it comes to weight and pressure on the notes, I think the drummer who has the heaviest grip is Eloy Casagrande from SEPULTURA
@@Tekner436what exactly is an air right hand fill? i know what he's doing, i know what you're talking about, like i see it. but what's the purpose for that? humor me im a bass player and never seen that
@@CykGameplays Haake has his own style, Mario has his own. Both god tier drummers doing slightly different music. Haake could play this in his own way, just like Mario could nail Bleed or Clockworks if he wanted to. But whats the point, music is not a competition
Mario is doing things on drums that are unmatched. He is a massive inspiration in the industry and to his fans alike! Their music and his drumming specifically has absolutely changed/saved my life!! So grateful to this man and Gojira’s music!!
@@alihijazi4451 I think I head him say somewhere that he also plays for an hour straight as a "warm up" right before their shows (that's why he's sweaty from the beginning). This guy is a mad man.
@@Dry7123 like I said in a comment below, I was waiting to listen Into the storm, I consider it like the Best song live with all your fans putting his fist in the air! Haha I don't have an idea why they're not playing that song, but, would be so amazing.
You watch this and you realise that even though some drum covers of Art of Dying on RU-vid are really good, the groove this man has is unmatched. The little intricacies, the power and the nuance this man displays together, is something completely missing from those covers, and no wonder why, it's because this man is one of the greatest ever to do it.
Flawless… That time signature and double pedal from the intro are mind blowing. Fun fact, I was able to see Gojira perform live in front row and was able to hug Mario after the show. Such a wholesome moment as a drummer.. He seems to be such a cool dude..
If thays the case why is he repeat "best metal drummer" winner? @Etienne.6329 Watch his solos "Cyclone", "minotaur" or "movement" and go find a drummer than can do the same. I'll be waiting.
The first groove with the constant ride bell always makes me think of a train. Which sounds to me like I'm on the rails and the train is coming to hit me hard (just like the song does).

Didn't know Vladimir Brichta was such an extraordinary drummer.
I love the aggression that he plays the 4/4 rock groove with. The complex stuff is incredible but his energy and precision sells even the simpler things. What a beast.
Every broken ass tempo song needs that 4/4 groove part so you can play with a demonic face while headbanging. I don't even drum, I just write, but I can relate because I do that to my own programed drums! Haha.
Since i saw the live performance at Vieilles Charrues Festival in 2010 i was hooked on the song, the band and Mario's drumming. I needed this drumvid. Mario is a beast and without a doubt one of the most influential drummers out there.
Power, precision, groove, finesse, flawless time. Mario has it all. One of the greatest in Metal. This is also one of the best-looking drum playthrough videos out there. The Strongest name in drums with one of the strongest behind the craft. Well done, Mario and Tama!
Mate saw them in 2018 when they toured with Mastodon. Fffffaaaarrrrkkk. I can honestly say that in my lifetime of 45 years on this big rock we on I've only been proper speechless 4 times, seeing Gojira live was the 4th. I'd go as far as to say actually spiritual. Absolute truth.
Saw gojira live last year and was absolutely blown away. He sounded so clean. On top of that he was wailing so hard on the drums, he cracked like 30 sticks through out the set. And tossed them out to the audience mid song, while grabbing another at the same time. Never missing a beat.
“I have to practice a lot, there is small margin for error in our songs.” I am about the same age as Mario, it would take me 6 months of heavy practice to gain the stamina to play this song. It’s doable, but man, is he strong. You gotta practice every day to be that strong.
Those ghost hits at 2:02 are crazy!! What a master. So much control, it's phenomenal. But I don't want to leave out the person who did the lighting, because it's equally as beautiful ❤
I love Mario and Gojira! They're so creative, humble, socially aware folks... I'm glad they've made it this far and that the whole world knows of their music, they completely deserve it. Sending hugs!
So couple of years ago my brother bought us a ticket to go see Deftones. Somehow, because of covid, it had to be rescheduled. It's funny because gojira wasn't on the first list!! Great late birthday from my brother. Watching gojira open up for deftones was the best thing ever. Im a drummer and ive been following gojira for awhile not the biggest metal fan but ill listen to it every once in awhile. What a great experience seeing Mario and abe cunningham drummer from deftones seeing in that night. 😱🤯🤘🏽
What the shit?!? How did I miss this?! I'm surprised the camera was able to survive being that close to this level of awesome power, and that Mario still managed to somehow keep his shirt on!
Um... what??? The way of all flesh is WIDELY known to have one of the best mixed, engineered and produced metal drum sounds of all time. Everything is so crisp and clear. What on earth are you talking about...?
@@jonnyj. You fell into the false dichotomy of assuming that I said all their other drums sound bad because I highlighted that this one is good. It's possible to think that this drum sound is better than their other records, while still thinking their other records still have one of the best mixed, and engineered drums sounds
