i hate this argument about lakitu. i don't even care for him in 7 nor 8 but it's still a stupid argument. first, they went out of their way to make his shell red instead of green (like the one that holds the lights at the start of races) to differentiate the two. they aren't the exact same character. second, the roll thing is just dumb. i could say the same thing like how koopas/shy guys/toads are all spectators but still playable characters. they have rolls as spectators, why should they be playable? why doesn't this argument work here? i honestly feel like people are just so bitter that they didn't get waluigi that they just make excuses to hate the new, unique characters. i personally feel mixed about the new characters myself, but you guys need to come up with actual criticism for a character besides "they replaced waluigi", lmao.
@@larrygriffin4343 Lakitus are too far out there to be a playable character. To explain in context to why the other characters get a pass is simple, koopa troopas brought back in double dash where it was actually quite clever how they included them (having one normal green shelled, and one red shelled with wings), Toad has been in party games, sports games and other spinoffs as well and also being a much more primary character I'm general rather than lakitu. Also, in double dash they included him alongside with toadette, so even toadette has an explanation to why she is in Wii and 8). Shy Guy was introduced as a novelty character you can play as in multiplayer in MKDS if a player doesn't have a cartridge of the game, so it would be kinda cool to finally have shy guy as a single player character. The thing is, they chose Lakitu as a playable character, purely out of the hell of it, without any kind of idea, reasonable context or even just a reason in general. If he was introduced as a character in double dash, and had his companion be a spiny or what not, then that would've been pretty clever and cool. Also note, that if we just allowed Lakitu to become a main stay, then we are gonna get really uninteresting characters later on such as, goombas, thwomps, spinies, more baby characters maybe. So it's always just better to ask for more interesting and generally more necessary characters is all.

Lakitu can stay, I main him with Koopa. Honey Queen cheated her way into the race, crushing the skulls of Dry Bones, taking out the mushrooms from Toadette's braids, purposefully crossing the line with taking Birdo's bow off, and becoming the poster child of character rosters going downhill. If this is considered a reset in Resetti's mind, he would have a long night with the Mario Kart governing body.

I miss this so much. My Nintendo 3ds was thrown into my old pool like half a dozen years ago, but I miss this. The graphics looked great then, I knew almost all shortcuts, jumps and turns, I was so good. I even liked holding my breath in the under water levels. Boy I wish the new Mario Kart tour was anything like this.

I think we could have gone without queen bee and wiggler. It would have been nice to get waluigi as a replacement for one of them. At least the babies didn't show up. I'm personally not a fan of them. They're not bad characters, it's just that they take up a lot of roster space and I don't prefer playing as them

Well, this roster is kinda nice but I can simply play as Daisy like my main if Toadette's not playable just as usual for a Mario game. Daisy's my second favorite Mario character following Toadette. (I love Masahiro Sakurai and ZUN)
I wish Toadette and Birdo were playable but Peach is my favorite anyway so I’m basically guaranteed to see her in every spin-off title I own. Also, I don’t think Honey Queen was terrible. I think she makes more sense than some of the other additions (such as Metal Mario and Wiggler.)

@@theshadowworld2239 because he was a quick character to make. put mario's sprites into a bunch of filters to make him silver, make mr. martinet do more voice lines and put them in some distortion filter, give him slightly different stats, and call it a day. i bet he was the last character in development. that's probably why he doesn't have a glossy sheen, and the reason he's the op combo is probably because they quickly the stats without thinking much of it so the game could reach its required holidays deadline.

No, definitely not! Honey Queen was only in 2 other Mario games and they could’ve just replaced Honey Queen with Waluigi or some character that is well known and better. Instead of Lakitu, we could’ve gotten at least Waluigi instead!!! Wiggler and Honey Queen aren’t bad additions and I don’t think they deserve hate, but I do feel that a Lakitu driver is unnecessary, especially for a roster that is limited due to hardware limitations/compatibilities. Lakitu already had a major role in the series, which is hosting the races, and he does not need a driver (at least for this Mario Kart game).
In my opinion DS characters better than 3DS ones, Double Dash characters better than DS ones, but MKW characters better than Double Dash. That’s my opinion though, :p. Dunno about the others
