and since people have been asking i will do one for mario circuit. (what a pain lol jk)
this is all the rainbow roads in one video in HD there a bonus at the end as well.
the videos are full quality DV S-Video rips directly off my consoles!
the DS rainbow road was recorded with desmume 9.7 (single screen AVI uncompressed)
i do have the real mario kart DS i just figured it would look a lot better recorded with an emulator.
mk7 RR was recorded with an iPhone 4 at 720p .mov (only video)
mk7 audio was directly recorded in stereo with audacidy 1.3 and carefully synced together on windows live movie maker.
a lot has changed in 20 years! ENJOY!! :D

Can we just take a moment to appreciate, how we came from a really small Rainbow from 1992, to the most large and complex racing track on 2011? It makes something inside me crash, to see how everything has changed over the years, but the only thing that will always remain still, is the beautiful soundtrack from each one of them.

Double dash's was okay, pretty forgettable and mellow in my opinion. Mario Kart 7's was fucking awesome. Don't lie, you got a nostalgia boner at the end of the song

5000cz Nostalgic or not, I get the chills down my neck whenever I hear it. It's part nostalgia from the familiar tune, and part awesome because of the twist they've added to it. Truly earns its place of the best rainbow road theme to date.

honestly, since MK64 was the first racing game i EVER played, rainbow road 64 is my favorite mario kart course (or ANY race course in ANY racing game) is my FAVORITE race course of all time :D

Opinions time! :D Nintendo 64's Rainbow Road was pointlessly lengthy, extremely boring and had almost no danger of falling off due to the excessive use of barricades/walls. Conversely the Nintendo DS Rainbow Road (not the 3DS) is perfect in every way. It was fast, but not nauseatingly so, and was a real technical joy to race on. Plus the layout in combination with all its jumps and loop-de-loops made it just plain awesome. What do you guys think?

And judging from the newest Mario Kart 8 trailer, the next evolution path Rainbow Road takes is that...of a modern looking space station-like stadium that has rainbow-colored winding curves and tracks weaving in and out. The music of said stage evokes Mario Kart DS and Wii's version. But if that's not your fancy, there is always the updated N64 Rainbow Road as a retro course, massively overhauled to be similar to Mario Kart Double Dash in that it takes place above a winding city instead of just blank space. There are fireworks that showcase character images and there is a magical train that flies all around the track.

N64 still the best for me. sure the track might not be as exciting as the later versions of the game but together with the music, it makes for a really relaxing and enjoyable drive. then again maybe it's because nostalgia

something I really love about MK7 that some reviewers seemed to have completely missed is that the tracks get extremely dynamic at times as laps progress, something very notable on Rainbow Road, for example. That's something that made some of the tracks EXTREMELY replayable because you were no longer doing the same thing three times anymore.

The Wii was the first system I ever had. Wii rainbow road is like my childhood. Every time I hear it, I always remember the countless hours of playing Mario Kart. R.I.P wii 2006-2014. You will be missed

Probably. If you listen to Wii and 64 Rainbow Road, there all pretty sounding, especially Wii, with all the flutes, pianos, and the Good Egg nostalgia going on made it so beautiful and peaceful.

Ah nostalgia... Super Mario Kart is one of the best video games I've ever played. So much fun on it, with my friends on this split-screen. I miss some of these friends and these moments now. I am 30 today, and I'd owned each single title of this series, if not "day-one", at least "month-one". What a great pleasure to visit the new N64 Rainbow Road on MK8. Thank you Nintendo for all this joy you brought to me.

Awesome vid, pretty nostalgic too, rainbow road in mario kart usually defines how much effort did the developers really put into the game as the hardest and best looking track from each generation. Personally I find the better ones to be the ones from 64, DS and 3DS so far.

Wow this is amazing..I've played all of these with the exception of Mario Kart 7, ( I don't want to buy a 3DS) but I must say the 7th iteration looks wonderful! Each lap is a different section of course! That's so neat! Are there any other tracks in MK7 like that?
