Man, this series has some bangers! Thank you to the Mario Kart community for making mods and music available for those of us without all the consoles. Grin's Discord: / discord Channel with Apkinz: / @apgrinzgaming
98/100 only missed Big Blue and Lakeside Park because I mistook them for Mute City and Riverside Park respectively. I didn’t even know Lakeside’s theme was different from Riverside.
Perfectly understandable. The way I keep them straight is that Big Blue starts with stabbing brass, while Mute City has long, whining brass lines. Also, Riverside Park spends a while on the percussion beat and whistles before the synths come in. Lakeside has much more frenetic synths that come in a lot sooner. But, I digress. Great job overall, though.
A true connoisseur, I see. I considered throwing in a few more difficult ones, but didn't want to be too mean. For my experience, most people have only really played the one they grew up with and probably 8 Deluxe.
89/100 The ones that I’m least familiar with, Super Circuit and MKTour, got me. You picked some bangers for this though, pretty much all my favorites were here, great stuff. Mario Kart really has come out with tons of incredible music over all its years. Very fun, I love quizzes like this
20:05 The fact you put Airship Fortress from Mario kart DS in 69Th just makes this video A whole lot better because Airship Fortress is (in my opinion) one of the BEST Mario kart tracks to ever exist.
96/100 I missed: Los Angeles Laps - couldn’t decide which city course it was. Rock Rock Mountain - mistook it for London Loop. Koopa Beach - mistook it for Choco Island. Sky High Sundae - honestly had no idea what this one was, since it’s so forgettable to me.
96/100, I somehow forgot sky garden and peaches gardens (got confused with D square from the DS) I always forget los angalis laps and I forgot Koopa beach existed. Just wanted to note, it’s also DK snowboard cross and parinia plant pipeway for the UK and Koopa city for Japan. Overall brillant quiz
Thank you, kindly. I've considered making an alternative name version, for tracks like Alpine Pass, DK Snowboard Cross, etc. Then, I realized that could be seen as milking the same content twice. Even so, I feel bad about not including them.
70/100 for me. There were some that I recognized the melodies to but not the actual names of the tracks, some that I confused for others, and some that I just outright had never heard. Cool quiz :)
@@TheGrinningGamer Did you notice in game that lap 3's music skips the intro on most tracks? (The only exceptions are TF, SNES Ghost Valley 2, and N64 DK's Jungle Parkway)
97.5 out of 100 for me, I missed Shy Guy Beach and GCN Bowser’s Castle because of brain fart, and with Urchin Underpass, I knew where it was from and it was Splatoon music but I forgot the name. Either way, great job making the video!
Yeah, I get those brain farts. I could listen to a playlist daily and then, when someone asks me the name point blank, suddenly everything locks up for a second.
10:01 WELCOME TO MARIO KART!!! In all seriousness, this hit me in the nostalgia button SO MANY TIMES!! Mario Kart Wii was my very first video game, and enjoying a fun race with friends and/or family will never grow old! Thanks for the memories!!
Couldn’t tally the scores just went straight up like that. But i definitely got a B- , was getting annoyed at my brain for not getting the names of the tracks in time, Overall great video 👍🏾
ones i got wrong - snes title theme (i never played smk) - koopa beach (guessed choco island) - gba title theme (i guessed like gcn credits or something lol) - dude ribbon road sounds completely different from deluxe so i got that wrong too - n64 battle theme (never played either) - koopa troopa beach - n64 bowsers castle - gcn bowsers castle (guessed ds bowser castle lol) - ds title screen (i think? i dont remember) - ds battle theme - 7 title theme - wario shipyard overall not horrible. great vid btw!
A perfect 100 for me, of course I do play a LOT of Mario Kart, although, I would have preferred the difficulty to slowly go up as it goes. It seemed pretty random which songs you choose. A good measure of difficulty for this would be obscurity, for example, start with iconic songs like Maple Treeway or Waluigi Pinball, and even songs in 8 Deluxe. Then at the end, have songs like the Super Circuit title theme, Dk's Jungle Parkway, or even MKDS Mission theme. And I may be cruel, but maybe even have the last 2 be the beta version of Vanilla Lake's theme, and the unused Dokkan Course theme from MKDS. Just a thought, have a nice day😊
I tried to start with some easier ones and sort of get more obscure as I went, but I definitely could've given it more of a curve. In retrospect, SMK's title screen may have been placed a bit too early. I guess I thought it would be on the easier end, since it's the main theme of the whole series. I've considered making a sequel for hardcore players to really test their knowledge, but we'll have to see. Thanks for the feedback. :)
98/100. Didn't think of the title theme in time for DS, and I thought the Double Dash!! one was a battle course theme... Was also stumped on Super Circuit courses like Yoshi Desert, Lakeside Park, and Cheese Land. There's a lot I need to learn, especially since I didn't know that N64 Choco Mountain (which I almost called Moo Moo Farm) was a battle theme too. I only really played Wii, 8 Deluxe, and Tour. Trying to get back into SNES and into N64 and GBA.
42/100 It really gets tough as you go along. I don't have a full experience in Mario Kart yet but for now I'll leave this for now and see if I do better in 1 year. I will put this video in my Watch Later so I won't forget.
97/100. I missed 2 of the tour tracks. Berlin and Sydney. Mistaked them for Vancouver and Singapore. I have a hard time remembering alot of the tour themes since ive only heard their 8 deluxe counterparts instead of the original compositions. The other i missed was wild woods but i dont play that track much online nor have i heard its music in full, only spare parts of it when playing since everything is just so loud when it's so quiet for the music in the beginning.
98/100 I mistook the lick from dolphin shoals to be part of the title screen theme from Mario Kart 8, I also messed up on Big Blue since it's so similar to Mute City
Fair. I've found it easy to tell them apart by how they start. Mute City starts with long, whining brass notes. Big Blue has it quick, stabbing trumpet notes at the start.
@@TheGrinningGamer I feel so ashamed. I should've missed at least 1, because you threw the most recent nitro from mk8 deluxe, but then I mistakened 3DS Music Park/Melody Motorway for Wii U's Electrodrome. Then, there was three others that I missed. 95/100 for me.
I got around 10 wrong, some of them I was like, oh, that's right, and some I just didn't think too hard about it. I honestly have not played all the games, the only ones I've played were snes (well, not much, but I've played it), (+ booster course pass), and tour. I've played tour a lot more than any other game, in fact I started playing it before multiplayer was open to everyone (when it was gold pass exclusice), probably in 2019 - 2020, which means, I've listened to music from many many games in the series. I can also tell which songs came from what game based on how they sound, because they all have unique sounds. snes is 16-bit, n64 is early midi, gba is choptune / compressed audio, gcn is clear, but still kind of midi, wii sounds like it's live, but also not, ds is midi, 3ds is higher quality midi, 8 is live band, and tour is recorded midi (or just using the music from the original game / pre-8 remix). Of course these aren't accurate descriptions of what they actually sound like, I can't describe that. If you listen to all the music in every game, you'll understand what I'm saying.
Very much so. The whistles and early midi horns of Double Dash are very distinct from DS's hyper-compressed midi, etc. Lucky you played Tour, considering how many retros it has.
90/100, This was so fun that I kept track of how I did. I answered 6 of them completely wrong, and 4 of them I knew only the game, but not the theme. I also made 4 other lighter mistakes that I don't consider to be wrong answers. I challenged myself to name all courses in songs that are used by multiple tracks. In only 3 of them I just missed additional courses that use the same music, but got the game and at least 1 course right. Finally, I got 1 Bowser's Castle of which I completely said the wrong game. Correct? Half-right? I still count it lol.
Got all of them,100%! If you eventually do another one, you should put more obscure themes near the end, like for example: GBA Ghost Data Trade Wii MK Channel theme DS Seq_Circuit1 GBA Single Pak race Tour Piranha Plant Pipeline SNES Vanilla Lake (Beta) Wii Galaxy Colosseum
I got 98/100. The only tracks I missed were Los Angeles Laps (I mistook it for another Tour track) and Grumble Volcano (I thought it was a desert track).
99/100 The only one which tripped me up was the Battle Theme of MK64, I thought it was from MKDS. I never played 64 much and its battle mode even less so. Almost got an ace 😂
I had 96/100 on Rosalinas Iceworld and dolphinshoals i heart a part I didnt know about this soundtrack. On Wii I guessed online instead of menu and I said Tokio instead of Sydney. I am not so good in remembering all City soundtracks
I got 16, 24, 25, 28, 34, 43, 44, 49, 52, 57, 64, 69, 73, 74, 78, 84, 86, 88, 89, 90, 93, and 99 wrong. I feel bad for getting daisy hills, peach gardens, ribbon road, and squeaky clean sprint wrong, but the rest were tracks I just don’t remember. 78/100 isn’t bad though.
Not bad at all. To be fair, original Ribbon Road sounds almost nothing like 8DX's version, SCS is very new, and Peach Gardens sounds a good bit like Paris.
Thanks so much! I tried to toss some softballs at the start and work my way toward more obscure ones. Sadly, I can't cram all the bangers into a list of 100, but I'm very happy with how it turned out.
I got 97.5/100 (I'm only counting getting Lakeside Park wrong as half a point, because they're so similar). I also got Koopa Beach (said Choco Island) and Grumble Volcano (said Bowser's Castle) wrong
I suppose that's fair. I do hope if and when Lakeside gets remade, it'll have more of its own musical identity. It definitely has more urgency to it, compared to Riverside with its long percussion breaks.
Including the Mario Kart Wii music at 0:00, I got 93 correct answers. The only incorrect answers were Ribbon Road, GCN Bowser's Castle, Daisy Circuit, Water Park, Squeaky Clean Sprint, and Excitebike Arena
63/100, though it's probably closer to 65/100 or 70/100 because I docked myself for knowing the track of some, but missing the name (like saying Koopa Troopa Beach instead of Koopa Beach for SNES).
That one in particular, I would excuse, if you knew it was from the SNES. I believe MKTour even refers to it as Koopa Troopa Beach, instead of its original name.
86/100 (I mistook Choco Mountain for Moo Moo Farm/Yoshi Valley, Sky Garden for GBA Rainbow Road, I didn’t recognize the menu theme for MK8, I didn’t recognize LA Laps, I didn’t recognize DS’s title theme, I mistook Berlin Byways for Electrodrome, I mistook Vanilla Lake for Donut Plains and Choco Island, I mistook Koopa Beach for Donut Plains, I didn’t recognize the title screen for Double Dash, I mistook Urchin Underpass for London Loop, I didn’t recognize Amsterdam Drift, I mistook Koopa Troopa Beach for Cheep Cheep Lagoon, I didn’t recognize Sweet Sweet Canyon, and I didn’t recognize Squeaky-Clean Sprint)
96/100 Failed the Splatoon battle stage (idk its name, sorry) Ribbon Road, Double Dash Bowser's Castle (I confused it with the Luigi's Mansion battle theme) and the Super Circuit title screen. I have only played 4 mainline games and an arcade one, so I'm proud of myself
95/100, i missed GBA menu theme, lakeside park, ribbon road, N64 battle and dolphin shoals Considering ive never played mario kart SNES, GBA, GCN and tour id call that a major win
96/100 I mistook big blue for mute city, I said cheep cheep beach when I meant cheep cheep island I thought Warios shipyard was that new track from tour Piranha Plant Pipeline, and I always get confused on vanilla Lake because I always think its Koopa Beach other than those I kicked it out the ballpark with this quiz!
Nice! An easy way to keep Big Blue and Mute City separated in your brain is that Big Blue starts with those stabbing brass chords while Mute City kinda wails with its opening.
7 wrong, 5 of them from Tour as i havent memorized them all yet. Also missed GBA title theme as I've never played it and Wario's Shipyard as the melody came too late for me (the song is forgettable anyway)
@@TheGrinningGamer Slight error on Dolphin Shoals. The longer soundtrack only plays in Wii U's Dolphin Shoals. You showed 8 Deluxe footage, where the soundtrack loops earlier.
I got at least 89/100. The ones I know I got wrong are: Dolphin Shoals, Los Angeles Laps, Cloudtop Cruise, Hyrule Circuit, Urchin Underpass, Sky-High Sundae, Amsterdam Drift, MK Super Circuit title screen, Sweet Sweet Canyon, Water Park The MK8 title screen is a technicality: I knew it was the first thing you hear when you boot up the game, but I didn’t get the name right, so idk whether to count it or not. You know what, I think I will, I earned a 90/100 on this test
I'm pretty sure the official track name is Main Theme/Title Screen, but that's a technicality. As long as you know it's what plays when you boot it up, I'd say that's fair.
I just challenged myself for fun and the only song I missed was Los Angeles Laps (this song is the hardest to recognize at all 😞) So... I got 99/100 Only played the DS tho' but the others rely on watching walkthroughs 😅
Same. 😁 That's why I also made easy-listening playlists of the whole series. My friends and relatives are sick of this series' music, because of how much I listen to it.
@@JustANormalMariokarter I moreso meant least memorable. Sure, there's Music Park and Rainbow Road, but most are kinda forgetable. Half of SMK's themes are iconic.
