Loved how mario actually would turn and still be capable of actions in the level up screen. Some games just freeze the character in whatever they are doing. Good to know Nintendo tried hard to prevent soft locks

Everyone talking about Mario getting blown up out of his level up star and I'm just sitting here wondering how Luigi survived the blast.

It’s harder to kill a Christmas tree crab that it is to kill the soul of basically a demon

It goes to show how bullet proof the code for this game is if only one boss causes a soft lock and the rest are at least recoverable from. I'm mostly impressed with the facts that Mario in the lv up screen shares the same animation calls as his normal battle/OW ones as he actually just looked at the bomb and then proceeded to just get blown out of the star as well as the fact that the final boss actually is that stable and doesn't cause crash or lock. Well done Nintendo and Alpha Dream you have made a DAMN SOLID game which only goes to add to super star saga's legendary status.

People aren't talking about it, but the softlock at 3:33 is pretty terrifying. Hearing the theme of the main antagonist play over the pitch black background, as Mario and Luigi are gone, and due to the meddling of the player who should do this, the world is drenched in eternal darkness- something that the Bros. and your Game Boy Advance are now also familiar with.

I would have genuinely loved it if MARIO being knocked out of his level up star actually happened, it would be like a unique plot twist

This happens because internally, bosses actually have 5000 more health than you need to deal in damage to kill them. Normally, you'll never see the effects of this because bosses are set to die with the boss death animation as soon as they drop below 5000. For non-boss enemies, they die "normally" (without the boss death animation) when their health hits zero. What we're doing here is dealing enough damage for a boss to die normally, which the game may or may not be prepared for.

I find it interesting how the slow version of bowletta's theme Actually has more to it, than just the little cutscenes bit where he eats them.

I knew this could happen! One time I managed to get such a big combo with Knockback Bros Advance against Cackaletta's heart that I triggered the last glitch there but never managed to repeat it. Nice to see confirmation that it does actually happen and that it can screw with other bosses too.

Dang, The closest thing we ever had to Mario being killed in the Level Up Screen on purpose was in 3D World when Bowser came in after the end of the level screen at the end of World Castle to kidnap all the Sprixies at once. I would love it if Mario and Luigi 6 did something like this where the Boss gets back up and does harm to Mario and Luigi in the Level Up Screen.

Still one of the most fascinating oversights in the game, funny how it kinda lived on in the next game in the form of the copy flowers (even if it doesn't softlock anymore.)

Ya know, once when I beat the yeti girl (actually the very first time I ever fought her), the ice girl didn't reappear and instead I got to go on with Mario's turn, but as you can guess there were no attack targets and thus the game softlocked.

How about during the intro battle when it's Mario v. Bowser? And would a similar glitch occur during the Mario and Luigi v. Popple and Birdo battle?

So if anyone who doesn't know. The mush badge increases your damage depending on how many mushrooms you have in your inventory, and the type of mushroom also matters. Like a super mush will give less damage compared to an ultra or golden mush. There is also a very easy way to get ultra shrooms in the game so in the original English version of this game. This is entirely possible. But in the Japanese or UK version along with the remake of this game that was released recently, got the badge removed.
