I'm not listening to the water music song for a while after this 😂😂😂 Hey everyone! This is my first ever completely offstream "only for youtube" video! Needless to say, I would never have touched this level on a livestream. But, I had a ton of fun making (and editing) this for youtube, so I hope you all enjoy watching! I also recently got a new capture card set up, so everything should be extra buttery smooth. I hope to keep making more of these! Let me know if you like this, and if you want to see more Barbarian levels, or anything else you'd like to see me do like this 🙃I may do some expert/super expert stuff (no skip, 5 life challenge, etc) like this, or some puzzles I've been meaning to get to. Another thing I'm considering is a level design video, where I record making a level from scratch. I'm also curious if people liked having the timer so you can see just so freakin' long the level took to beat, or if it was distracting. Also, hopefully the next one will have a mario/science/whatever Q&A section at the end if I have time. I'll take questions from this comment section for that! I’m here after The Salt Mines. My journey with Carl is over after 3 years. I returned to where I started, in true CP 0 fashion. This is bitter sweet for me. I watched all the Carl videos I could for 2 years, then a year of forgetting about Mario Maker. Keep Being awesome Carl. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. ❤️

I went to a presentation this weekend, labeled "How video games can turn our children violent and produce trauma". I went there to refute all arguments and propagandize the opposite, in common words, to protest. Then they played this video. Couldn't argue there.

So I'm still watching the video (over my lunch break) and I got to the part where you hit the start over button after the check point. I actually dropped my sandwich and stared mouth gaping in disbelief.

Funny you should mention the shadows on the game. I have always seen them, and there is a reason for them that dates back to Mario 3. The creator (not even trying to spell the name) said that there was a question he was asked at one point - how can Bowser and Peach and Mario and Donkey Kong supposed to like go out, and Kart, or have a party, and be all friendly. His answer was the this is like a stage performance or a drama for the player. The games are the stage... hence why they are called stages... and the characters are still friends in the off time. So they can team up in other games and have fun. They don't hate each other, they are actors. You can see by the opening of Mario 3 that this was the idea, as curtains open and there are "errors" in the intro, such as the shell hitting Luigi, and running around aimlessly. The more you know! *Star arching overhead.*

This video was a perfect step for youtube only content. This is exactly the kind of format that makes watching Mario Maker videos fun; being able to watch the progression on learning the level, while having excess repeats edited out perfectly. Videos showing just a perfect-run through the level aren't fun because then I don't understand exactly what steps are actually involved in the stage. And your commentary really does A LOT to keep my attention, so I am glad that the youtube-only content still has commentary. I get bored more easily watching other Mario Maker youtube channels.

Man, all those mentions of almost restarting levels in previous streams and videos feel like foreshadowing to this exact moment.

Great editing, I like being able to see the level progress without having to see every single death. Puzzle levels are always great though, always like to see more.

This is easily one of my favorite videos ever. Each time I don't know what to watch, I rewatch this.

I really like that you're making these "RU-vid Only" videos. Not only do we get to see some really cool levels that take too long to play on your streams, it's also just nice to watch the game in 60 fps instead of the 30 fps recordings from Twitch.

I don't often comment; I wanted to say that I enjoy watching you progress through this level. Because it's harder than your on-stream levels I got more invested in your progress than usual which was fun! I think your channel has a place for both on and off stream content though so don't feel it's a strong vote for one or the other. What sets you apart from other streamers in my view is that you're a nice guy who is good at games, you react how I feel I would at each point, that checkpoint for example, hence the added satisfaction and rage. It's another reason why I enjoy your puzzle levels, I'm not learning to play mariomaker I'm watching an episode of a show I like! Ultimately I'm a big fan of your style, thanks for the videos. Cj

I've tried a few Barb levels and they are beyond my skill level, no question. What must be said though is no one makes levels like he does. There's a certain minimalism to his style that's not intimidating at first glance but once you start to progress you realize that he's bending you over backwards and kicking your ass time and time again. Keep it up Barb! For Carls everywhere!

The thing that is so brilliant about this level is that every trap serves a purpose, as evidenced by the fact that you triggered almost all of them. It's a difficult, but fair level

What i really wanted was a "Death counter" lol

I like this method of non-stream videos more than the other ones you recently did. I enjoy watching the discovery and experience of a level. With the other recent challenging levels, I felt like it was more just to show us the level itself and how you beat it, rather than watching you have the experience of the surprises and challenge of the level. I liked the timer, as it let us know more clearly about the passage of time while doing it. I'm curious to see a death counter also, but I imagine thats more trouble than its really worth (when the timer is just set-it-and-forget-it).

I think this type of video is great for iconic super hard off-stream levels, but only if you find levels worthy of the 4+ hour commitment of playing, on top of having enough content to be its own 30-60 min video. Good stuff carl, I enjoyed this video edit! -row

I'm a big fan of the timer. It gives me even more respect for how much time goes into these videos and what percentage of it gets stuck on the editing room floor. Also, massive kudos for recognizing the difference between a stream-live level and a pre-record-and-edit level.

pleaae, the world needs more of you playing these. Your reactions to his god tier filthy kaizo and just figuring out the timing on everything made this so entertaining. His levels remind me of the original kaizo, one mistake could cost you the whole progress and its fun to watch but absolute hell to play. As always, great video and for your first youtube only video, I'd gladly watch these if you decide to make this a regular thing.

This video was perfect carl. Well.... except for all the water, but I blame barb for that. I liked the timer and I think that everyone should start a timer and put it in the corner regardless of if they are streaming or making it for youtube. It's nice to see at a glance how long someone has been playing a level. It was really clutch when you restarted after you got a check point and we could see exactly how long it took you to make it back.

Upon seeing your ideas for another hidden block: I love the idea of you taking innocent levels and turning them into kizo craziness!
