The Nokis are so underrated. I remember seeing them in Sunshine's manual and being excited to finally see them upon reaching the first world they appeared in.
Fun fact the version of the SM64 Cave music is actually the one from super mario 64 DS! It's very slightly different from the N64 version and I was somehow able to tell the difference from memory lol
It's the frequency cut-off. I looked up some technical properties, and the DS apparently doesn't output much above ~10 kHz, roughly about half of what a perfect human hearing would be able to perceive. You hear this immediately.
Isn't more because there's like an added instrument in the background that goes "Doo Da" every second (yes, very clear explanation, I know). I don't think it was in the OG SM64 but I'm not sure.
@Anthestudios because pitch is logarithmic it's more like (log(20k/20)/log(10k/20)) 90% of human hearing, which probably doesn't account for the entire reason, there's probably some re"mastering" involved 😹😊 yep there's different synths/instruments involved too :)

Your playlists always help to get me through the work day. Your video "Calm Nintendo games music to finish the day" especially helps whenever things get stressful. Thank you!
Mario Party DS is my childhood, bitcrushed Waluigi cheers in the back of my mind every time i hear music of it (I was a yoshi main, but somehow waluigi stuck with me)
Oh my god the Mario Sports Mix and Sunshine representation is bringing back SO many memories!!! Incredible playlist as always Vapid, this one is going to get some HEAVY play
I am obsessed with late 2000’s Mario… I never really got to see it, but it just feels so obscure and less iconic because nsmbwii made everyone’s look at the Mario world turn around… But obscure songs like this accompanied by a Noki and the old logo and nsmbwii background makes me somehow nostalgic… I remember when the 2011 logo was sorta new, and the old one was still used in some cases. And then the plushies from back then, absolutely amazing. But anyway, I just wanted to say how interesting this era of Mario was. It brings me back in some sort of way, and I feel like I’m exploring something brand new for me, yet it’s so old.
Man, I was just thinking about replay Mario Sunshine for the 100th time and boom, I see your video with a Noki and the Noki bay music, which is litterally my fav character/levels/music from my fav Mario game ever
This is a nice lineup! Songs like Noki Bay and the menu theme for Mario Party Island Tour are a couple of my favorites! I couldn't help but close my eyes and hum along:)
I love this!!! All songs i either haven't heard in a loooong time, or never! I really appreciate you taking the time making these mixes, they make my daily life a lot more fun!
Thanks so much for including mario sports mix in the mix and especially peaches castle music. I definitely think that The Starbit Festival and Space Junk Galaxy from Mario Galaxy could definitely make a list like this. Space Junk Galaxy is more relaxing than the most relaxing Minecraft music. What does anyone else think about this?
I’m glad to see the Paper Mario Color Splash appreciation. It gets so much unjust hate because so many people cannot move past comparing it to previous Paper Mario games. What I’d for a port…
I mean, I liked color splash, but let's be real. even if you detach color splash from the previous paper mario games, it's still a heavily flawed game on its own.
@@jclkaytwo yeah true i feel like color splash was kinda just a fleshed out sticker star which, although good, is still weighed down by poor design decisions
As much as I love the Mario & Luigi appreciation, using that series' music is basically cheating because Yoko Shimomura is one of the certified GOATs of video game music. Still, fabulous playlist, and every song is absolutely deserving of being on here!
OH MY GOD DRIP DROP GALAXY FINALLY GOT THE LOVE IT DESERVED I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO LOVES THAT SONG!!! (even if it's at the very end, also you forgot boilerworks; B2 from Luigi's Mansion 3 and basically every song from Yoshi's Wooly World, that soundtrack deserves more attention but still DRIP DROP MY BELOVED WOOOOOOOOOO)
MARIO PARTY ISLAND TOURRR THAT GAME UNIRONICALLY ROCKED FOR THAT ERA OF MARIO PARTY GAMES the minigames were so fun.. and the main menu song was AWESOME. surprisingly good game edit: ALSO THE MARIO SPORTS MIX REP YEAHHHH
Honestly this entire playlist could have just been the Mario Party 3 soundtrack... seriously why is that the one from the N64 trilogy that gets absolutely slept on? Like obviously 2 has great boards and costumes, but 3 has some of the best mini games, side modes, and a single player campaign!
In general, Sunshine and 3D World were such underrated games. The soundtrack for both are great for colorful worlds, it's a shame it isn't seen from other perspective. You could also had added Petal Isles from Mario Wonder, one of my favorite overworld themes from the moment, but probably copyright would make it worse... Btw, hope this doesn't happen again (25:20 Windows sound lol)
