I love to think that both Mario and Sonic love each others games but can’t express it to the public because of the corporation rivalry. Behind the scenes they just geek out together- I love them!
One of the most surprisingly wholesome videos of Max. Mario acknowledges Sonic as his rival but he still acknwoledges and appreciates his rival's efforts and talks him up. They're not just rivals, they're bros.
This is in character for Mario, he's all about friendliness and fair sportsmanship. Plus Miyamoto personally liked the Sonic games which I'll take as Mario probably would too.
Putting Mario in his SMB1 outfit was a stroke of genius! A fantastic way to make this animation stand out from other Mario animations. Also, him being a Sonic 3 fan is actually the most in-character I’ve ever seen for him. An almost literal interpretation of the phrase “game recognises game”.
It feels so taboo to have Mario's favorite game be Sonic 3 & Knuckles, but at the same time, he definitely seems like the kind of person who would be willing to give any game a shot.
I love the idea that Mario appreciates and respects having competition in the video game market, especially if its the same game genre. Honestly given how often he collabs with Sonic now compared to the 90s I'm convinced its "canon"
Your interpretation gives me strong goku energy. I am now picturing mario letting Vegeta live just so his new game drop would provide a harder challenge.
This feels surprisingly legit. Mario has kind of always had that universal nice guy vibe going, so it kinda tracks that he'd be super into other consoles and games. Like "wow check out the fun stuff everyone is making", earnestly enjoying what even his rivals are making.
Mario is like Superman. Both characters are just kind and happy but people are SO determined to pick through every source to determine they have a secret dark side.
seeing an animation of Mario actually praising and complementing something related to Sonic and SEGA as a whole is actually refreshing considering the amount of animations there are of Mario doing the complete opposite Mario is an easy-going and laid back guy that makes friends with his rivals, not someone that still holds a grudge against someone for a long time
It’s been what? 20+ plus years and so, both mascots have matured for a good while, it’s kinda nice to see them both collab and just be pals after the petty rivalry that dominated the 1990’s
except for misunderstanding some people as bad guys, since a lot of times you can see the quote on quote... "enemies" of the Mario universe, and yet they seem like some nice guys that Bowser just hired, and Mario just doesn't care and just kills everyone on his path if that means he gets to kick Bowser's buttcheeks and get to Peach.
@@Nerx3239Hired help by a nemesis is still an opposing force. Said opposing force is also usually armed and hostile. The enemies of the Mario universe are cute, not harmless. Don’t treat a soldier as an evil person for suppressing their opposition.
I honestly like the idea of Mario and Sonic playing each other’s games. Mario loves Sonic games because they’re speedy and exhilarating compared to his usual adventures, and Sonic loves Mario games because he likes a little good clean fun at a slower pace during downtime (although he would probably like speedrunning them because of course he would).
Mario is such a gentleman, hyping up the genuinely interesting, but ultimately failed efforts of his rival. He knows he's successful, and he's probably going to be for a long time still, and from that position of strength he reaches down to his rival to try and pull them up to stand beside him. What a mad lad.
He couldn't do it because hes under contract with nintendo. That's why when fans meet him at conventions, he can only say certain things as Mario in videos and recordings.

He isn’t a muppet, and he has an established personality. -He never gives up and will fight to the bitter end, as seen and stated in paper mario the thousand year door as well as most mario games -He is a go getter, he “jumps” in to any situation , he’s impulsive -He loves his brother more than he does even himself, or princess peach -He is an adventurous explorer -He’s a competitive person -He is a very humble guy. He has shown kindness to Bowser, and even Wario and Donkey Kong. -He’s a foodie, the guy talks about pasta when he falls asleep and in Luigi’s Mansion 3 he’s got pizza boxes all over his hotel room -He is good natured and kind. The star gate from Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time can read a person’s heart and if they have a pure enough heart they may enter through. Mario was able to enter through. -He just loves to have fun. The party, kart, and sports games show us how much Mario values his friends and enemies. He just loves to have fun with anyone around him, he doesn’t care about the person’s past. -He’s energetic and upbeat -He can have an attitude sometimes, he gives Bowser Junior sass in Bowser’s Fury because he is careful about trusting his alliance
Honestly, this is Mario’s good-hearted & humble nature at its finest. Just because he’s a major part of Nintendo doesn’t mean he’s only about Nintendo. He’s about games having fun & innovating in general. Definitely Miyamoto’s mindset gives him that kind of curiosity to see what the others have to offer, so I can totally see Mario being a big fan of Sonic’s games during their rivalry. Because they are fun & creative on how they made it fun. ❤
For the once the fact that Mario actually is happy and fully enjoying something from Sonic, even saying that Sega is better than Nintendo is what I call a best friend.

That last part where Mario says "Genesis does what Nintendon't" feels in this context as a compliment to Sega for trying to do things that Nintendo wouldn't. It's really amazing.
This animation is super well made by the way! :) You can really see Max progressing his style and his animations improving each time. Easily his cleanest and prettiest 2D animation yet! :)
Shigery Miyamoto has actually said that out of all the platform games characters that have appeared since and been influenced by Mario, Sonic is the one he respects the most.
It isn’t like he’s gonna be out for entire years, it’s only been 5 Months, an Animator gets real busy at times with Personal Life and such. He only posts less than he should but that’s okay. Give the Man time.
Mario treats himself like a professional. It's kinda like with drug dealers: you don't get high off of your own supply. In hindsighr, this might not have been a very good or positive analogy to use.
The funniest part about this to me is that I KNOW that Max can do a more-than-decent Mario impression, meaning the use of a synthesized voice was a purposeful creative choice

I mean to be frank, I don't think Nintendo really minds. I mean Sakurai's favorite console was the PlayStation. He even showed his living room on-screen and a PlayStation was sure enough there when showcasing Min Min. Heck, he got Joker in Smash too. That was his one personal pick Nintendo allowed him to choose, and he chose a PlayStation4 exclusive representative.
Now we need a video of Sonic talking about how much he loves the original Super Mario Bros (partially for neat speedrun tech, partially because of how it defined platforming)

Sonic needs to be saying "I love my fans, and I especially LOVE the Original Characters based on me that are just re-colors! I love them more than chilidogs! Gotta go SLOW!"
Apparently, the idea of making speed the defining factor of the Sonic games was inspired by the fact that you needed to replay the first level of Super Mario Bros every time.
This is kind of wholesome. Mario, even though he was rival of Sonic, enjoys games with him and supports him. It would be even better if it turned out that sonic also enjoys games with Mario.
Max is just amazing. The Description is short. His animation skills have reached amazing levels. The video is wholesome. but watching a lot of his videos over the years not once has my love for him has ever stagnated he reflects a lot he works hard he tries to be humorus and positive he's just always been a genuine person who puts a lot of love in everything he puts out and its always been amazing to just see.

It's funny and cute at the same time. Honestly, I enjoyed it and it's really in character for Mario to speak praise to Sega like that, especially considering the Mario & Sonic Olympics games had them as friendly rivals and friends.
Actually wholesome. I can imagine Sonic now, even with is 90’s attitude, secretly admiring Super Mario World. Or at least him & Tails playing two players in a Super Mario Bros game.
This is honestly adorable. I like the idea that Mario and Sonic both actually really like and appreciate each others games. Imagining that they are both huge fans of each others and would both freak out if they met each other like a couple of fanboys, fuckin cute shit
This feels very in-character for Mario. He's been shown to hold zero grudges, to enjoy simple-but-challenging experiences, and holds an appreciation for tactile hardware over intangible software. Also while he's famously loyal to a fault, his loyalty is always towards people, not organizations, meaning no qualms with favouring a rival to Nintendo.
For how long sega and nintendo have been at the console war, it would make sense that they're on more friendly terms. One would assume Sonic feels a similar way. Bet his favorite Mario game would be a 3d release like SM64
This is exactly the take Mario would have on this. Both gameplay-wise and console-wise Super-Nintendo and Sega Genesys were simillar in quality, except Nintendo went for "bigger" while SEGA went for "Faster". Same with their mascots, Mario being a jumper and Sonic being a runner respectively. One is not better than the other and both do things the other wouldn't. Besides, Mario wouldn't be so self-absorbed as to have his favorite game be the one about him.
A minor thing, but I appreciate how Mario is wearing his green overalls rather than the blue ones, it feels like he's in a more casual environment, making his excitement for S3&K all the more earnest and endearing
@@onionion2661 1. Yes, probably 2. I believe when I wrote the comment, I meant "overalls" as in the whole general outfit, meaning the shirt and pants combined, and the green shirt stood out to me as different more than the red overalls for some reason

The thing is, Mario is so friendly and wholesome... that I could potentially see this being reconned in. Especially with how close Sega and Nintendo got after the Dreamcast. This is fucking adorable shit, fr.
This is such a feel-good animation! It would be awesome to have a companion video of Sonic giving praise to a Mario game in return. Someone else mentioned the original Mario Bros would be fitting because of speed running strats. But, take it a step further and have Sonic wistfully say, "This is how I got my start. Without Mario, I wouldn't be where I am today." Considering the resurgence Sonic has had in the past year, this could be a positive thing. Any time before that, and it probably would have been a bit depressing to hear, haha.
I always enjoy watching every last frame of Max’s animations several times just to see how much detail he puts into them. Brings be back to the good ol’ days of when Luigi’s Day Out was a big hit :)
I love this style of Mario, i cant quite nail what it is but its just so appealing. Its a nice mix of modern mario, with a bit of early jumpman design elements, and the nes colors. I'd love to see more of him.😊
This is the type of diggedydemon content I want. No demons, no adult stuff, no insane ponies, just some random short parody animations made completely for fun. Keep making content like this, not saying you should replace your modern content tho.

I just realized Mario’s colors are based on how he somewhat looked like in the original with a red and brown, while giving him features of his more recent designs! I think this is probably my favorite redesign of that short Italian plumber.
I really love the animation style, and the way mario is drawn looks like its from old promotional material, especially with the smb1 color palette being recognizable but not the same as the color palette here
