Here we see the peak of Sponge's despair. Far from anything he can recognize as close to home, his body begins to warp, with the effects of Meat's influence starting to pierce through his aura of sadness. Yet though his body begins to give, he continues because there's a slim chance that just maybe he'll find a release from his pain once and for all.
when sponge gets to the upside down area, he becomes meat. Meat represents physical death in this hack, so that whole area can be interpreted as the opposite of sponges reality. Sponge was usually alive, but now he becomes death. The gravity changes directions, and while everything before made at least some amount of sense contextually, nothing in that area has any relation with anything else. The upside down area is not about being dead or death itself, but the very concept of death, Saturn, expressed through the vinesauce cultures memes. While this hack makes absolutely no sense in normal context, sponge first goes into the castle, gets yeeted into the weird area, and arrives back to the sicko mode room still in the castle. You could say that sponge knew the princess was dead all along, and dreading the reality, his crushing guilt was expressed as a morbid fantasy world. It all makes sense, since the player gets to see princess bleach lying prone but she gets swallowed by the physical representation of death right in front of sponge, as though he watched her die before his eyes somehow. He struggles with this manifestation of death that consumed his beloved, dealing with it. It comes back though, on a vine shroom somewhere high up. When sponge wins the battle, he doesn't win anything, he's just sad and tired after his long psychological journey.
@@TheAbsol7448 The way they composed this sound, it really does sound like something made on the SNES from the 90s, it's THAT original imo. That was my first impression hearing this song before I looked into it.
4 months late but it actually isn't oc! I remember that this was made a while ago. Still sounds great in hd since the song is simulated again unlike the oldest upload
The original Mario soundtrack already sounded good but good job writing this too, whoever. Mario level with just a jam session with Dream Theater or something in the background.
I was actually kinda looking to use this ost in a Roblox game and this comment popped up (I think the audio file was deleted because copyright or something tho)
