I really want the Pirates to do well this year, too. I love the underdog stories in sports and, as much as I dislike the Steelers, I do have a soft spot for the Pirates. If McCutchen has another season like last year, I think they'll be in good shape to go far this year!

Sports simulation games are a lot of fun for very different reasons that games like Mario Baseball and Tennis are fun. If you really know the strategy, terminology, and appreciate the sport, you can have a blast with them. My friends and I played a lot of MLB The Show in college and loved every minute of it, but generally those games would be harder for newcomers to pick up and play. That's why the Mario sports games and other similar titles have a nice niche market, as they can be fun without knowing all of the details. Also the Braves should be in a fine position to win the NL East again this year if they can stay healthy. I think the Red Sox and the Braves have some games together at the end of May, so that should be exciting to watch! =)

The Dodgers now have the highest payroll in the MLB for the first time in 15 years, so congrats on being the largest market team! Anyway, I am always skeptical of pitchers from Japan as they are trained to pitch for a different duration to a different level of talent. Tanaka seems to be incredibly talented, but I don't know if he'll be worth all the money that the Yankees dished out for him. They need Tanaka to at least be decent or their starting rotation will be in trouble. Regardless, I don't think the Dodgers particularly needed Tanaka. They have the best pitcher in the NL (Kershaw) and if Kemp manages to come back with no problems, L.A. should be able to claim the division again.

See I thought that too. But with all the injuries to some of the good players (kemp, crawford, hanley), they are going to have to focus on keeping their pitching good. While I love Kershaw, personally, I dont believe Greinke and Ryu are good enough to help a team win 90+ games. They are good, just not good enough. I just wanted the Dodgers to have a little bit of extra depht at pitching. Plus, I know you're a Red Sox fan, and I am being perfectly honest, I believe that the Red Sox have one of the best starting 9 in all of baseball right now. Lol

Disappointing is definitely the right word to summarize their season but, that being said, I think they will improve this year. Not sure if they'll be able to beat the Braves for the division, but it would be cool to see them sneak into a wild card spot this year. They have the talent to do it... a lot depends on whether or not they stay healthy.

ShadowMarioXLI Yeah, I think last year everyone on the team bought too much into the preseason hype, including Davey. From what I've been hearing, Matt Williams ran a more focused spring training, which could make a difference. That, and of course staying healthy as you said. That part isn't off to a great start with Fister on the DL, I hope he won't be out for long.

I would disagree with the Yankees even winning the division, nevermind the World Series. There is no question that they will be a better team than last year and, while their outfield is stacked, their infield and pitching leaves a lot to be desired. I predict that they'll win the first wild card spot, but I would be shocked if they made it to the ALCS. Of course these predictions assume that teams are going to stay healthy. If a key injury strikes either side, it could be a different story. Also I still don't understand why the Yankees paid big money to get some of these players, but let Cano leave to the Mariners. I generally agree with Redsoxking, you can buy individual talent, but you can't buy a winning team.

I thought that the Tigers and Red Sox were the two best teams last year in terms of talent and ability; I knew the winner of the ALCS would most likely win the World Series. Regardless of the result, you have to admit it was one hell of an exciting series. Also I think the Tigers will be better off this year without Prince Fielder. They really do look like they could make another run this year. Baseball is one of the toughest sports to have consecutive successful years, but best of luck to the Tigers. What do you think of their new manager?

Ausmus looks fantastic. He is funny, the players like him, and he has run the first 2 games well so far. Kinsler is already doing better than Fielder(He had a Home Run and a walkoff hit yesterday) which really is not that surprising. Fielder had a WAR of just 2 last year, which is absolutely awful for his cost. Kinsler had a WAR of 4.5 in 30 less games at a much lower cost. I'll miss Iglesias but Alex Gonzalez looks good with the bat so far(walk-off hit opening day) so I can live with it. The Red Sox had a great offseason in my opinion, picking up A. J. Pierzynski and Grady Sizemore looks fantastic, its nice to see him back. Its a tough A.L. East, but I think the Rays are overrated and the Red Sox should be able to take it. The Yankees have infield problems and C.C. Sabathia doesn't look any better as the ASTROS beat him yesterday. The Orioles ended up doing pretty good though, with Nelson Cruz and Ubaldo Jimenez, I honestly think they are second in the East and grab a wild card. Also, I am scared of Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton with comeback seasons behind Mike Trout. I actually don't have a problem with starting Sizemore. We got him for practically nothing and if he can give the Sox 100 quality starts or so, I don't see the problem. Also, I think it's good for Bradley Jr. to get more practice in AAA; he was called up too early last year. Having Sizemore will give Bradley Jr. an easier transition to the majors so that Bradley Jr. can hopefully take over full-time next season. If Sizemore starts sucking, though, you better believe I'll want him out of there! XD
