I mean, give me a spin off of these two when they were young, or flashbacks, BUT I NEED SOMETHING TO PROCESS THIS SCENE!
Ruth Wilson and James McAvoy chemistry is beyond this world. Only 1 scene together and I felt everything!! And they are shitty parents, people, and the worst BUT I LOVE THEM TOGETHER!!!!!!!

This video is absolutely genius. I didn't realise at first why you were including so many of the scenes between Marissa and Lyra until you get to the end of the video and you tie in how she doesn't go with Asriel because of Lyra. So you showed that even though she loves him, she loves Lyra more and that all ties in beautifully.

i would....from the beginning Asriel treated Lyra as pitstop toward his own ambitions but Marissa is different sure she has great ambitions but like that old saying "Everything Changes When You have A Baby" since then her road has always been towards her

Marisa Coulter (at least at the beginning of the story) is a religious fanatic devoted to the Magisterium whilst Asriel is a revolutionary leader who is ready to do anything to bring down the Authority and establish the Republic of Heaven. Asriel’s goal seems much better to me. But I agree that both are cruel and ruthless.

@Anna@bella Authority is what they call christian God in Lyra's universe, not the Church. Magisterium is the Church, and yes Marisa partly sided with them cos she wanted power. They are a bit shy about religious nomenclature in the series, in books both God and Church are explicitly mentioned...

It took me a while to realise that Marisa's deamon doesn't have a nose - it's not just ugly, he had his nose cut off. probably together with his tongue because it's the only deamon that doesn't speak. it makes perfect sense now: Magisterium tortured her for adultery by mutilating her deamon. and yet, she remained. what parents Lyra had! indeed, the product of something extraordinary :)

That type of Monkey has no nose it's born that way. The reason her Golden monkey does speak is because Mr Coulter will not allow her soul to speak. That monkey has no name in the book and the Monkey is walking metaphor for the state of Mrs Coulter soul. She's denied & separated herself from her deepest self for power and reason.
