Our awesome supporter, Mark Agnesi with Gibson, giving a guitar lesson on one of his favorite songs - I Feel So Good (Sam's Boogie) by Magic Sam. Thank you, Mark, for all that you have done and continuously do for Guitars for Vets.
This is undoubtedly one of the best guitar lessons out there. Sam‘s boogie is anything but easy. You broke it down very well and you made it swing, too. Thank you.
I am with you on Magic Sam, First time I heard it I was just floored on how he was able to get those sounds out of that borrowed Les Paul, Soooooooooo good.
Beautiful Mark - yeah breathtaking guitar playing on that old clip! I must have played it over & over a 100 times when I first got the DVD set! And that killer tone from Earl Hooker’s borrowed cheap Les Paul copy! Too cool.
That picture of Keef & Mick looks really great & so does that L.P. Custom. All u need is a little more bounce & more feeling & I really believe that you could play something really close to it. Great job man.
Hi, if I'm not mistaken the song is typically called Lookin' Good and the video footage is from an AFB festival somewhere in Europe. I really like how you nailed the guitar sound!
My name is also Mark, known in military as Stormin' Norman. WWII Occupational Forces Medal, ARCOMM for criminal investigations (one of two CID agents on Jump Status) while in 82d ABN., VA registry of Exposed to Ionizing Radiation. 100% War-time Service-Connected Disabled and Unemployable Veteran with Titanium shoulders, bad carpel tunnel, plastic eye lenses, and deaf in Left ear. I am trying to learn to play guitar, perhaps after second carpel tunnel surgery, I'll be able to hold a pick for longer than five minutes.
The man is showing how to play the riff. You want him to track down a POS old Univox knockoff Les Paul so he can get it right? Stupidist shit I heard all week.
Hope you're not mad @ the late Magic Sam for not "playing authentic". Earl Hooker's Les Paul copy just sounded "off"... If only Sam could have had the "real deal". I guess we'll never know how awesome it could have been!
hey Mark ...you might go and have another listen ? and just listen a bit... dont worry about you hands and guitar (and then look) Sam doesn't move his A barre index(correct your left hand).. or you will never be able to play it) there is quite a lot more going on...its very percussive (not bent)...your guitar sound is very good (tone).....its just not right as far as pitch (your d to c sound is sloppy and out (that hand again)....maybe check out Kyle J's efforts on youtube ? (he is the closest Ive found) anyway...I hope you take that as constructive criticism ? its a crazy happening thingo (as you know).. give some more time..(please forgive me if I sound pedantic) we are all trying to improve etc ...take care
