With this year’s collection of songs already released by Mark and Maggie O’Connor, their new song finds Mark composing his music to lyrics written by Maggie, the duo’s lead vocalist. Her life-long love of horses with their contribution to mankind provides an unbroken motif for Ride Towards Home. With Mark’s roughhewn guitar refrain, Maggie’s get up and go violin solos, and the true-hearted Americana-country groove kicked in by an upright bass and drum set compliments of Nashville studio veterans Dennis Crouch and John Gardner, the musical tapestry fosters Maggie’s testament and passion-a gratitude for times past; Feathered manes and war stained saddles; Pulling carts for wounded men; and her real-time restlessness-the chorus’ refrain: Wild horses please carry me-In an everlasting ride towards home.
