First thing. I own guns, have a CHL, carry, and subscribe to this channel, so I am anything but antigun. However, I think in Mark Kelly's instance, when your spouse and duly elected Congressional Representative (Gabby Giffords) suffers traumatic injury and is nearly killed by a deranged individual while she is talking to constituents, you look at the gun issue thru a different lens. She was meeting with those people in a casual public session and nearly paid for it with her life. By and large, most of these "incidents" are not so much politically motivated as they are an attempt to gain "Top of the World Ma". (Cagney -WHITE HEAT - 1949) recognition or express rage against the system - whatever that is. Even reasonable attempts to keep firearms out of the hands of these individuals are met with an uproar about 2nd amendment rights. Meanwhile, closer to home, one member of my immediate family is a member of the US House of Representatives who receives frequent death threats. It is very sobering to see him discuss with staff the need for Secuity at an event and then donning a Kevlar vest as he readies himself for that public event. Think about that before you rant at politicians - regardless of their politics. Think about who you may accidently be inciting to commit such an act.

Well, what exactly is the role of a VP? Be the tie breaker in the Senate? Be sent around the globe to either play diplomat if competent, or a non essential US representative like Quayle? Honestly if you are so upset with him, I couldn't think of a better way to render him ineffective.

I usually agree with you but ideas are not unconstitutional. Laws are unconstitutional. Ideas are only ideas. The great thing about this country is you can push ideas where you believe the guys 200 years set up ideas and wrote them down as rules for a country. Some of those rules were good, some were misguided. So misguided and shortsighted that we have amended the Document twenty-seven times. I can think of a few things that should make it Twenty-nine. That doesn’t make my ideas unconstitutional even though both are in direct opposition to the Constitution. I do agree with the hope that Harris doesn’t choose Kelly as a running mate but for different reasons. The Vice President is a powerless creation by the founders so I’m not very worried about his views on guns or anything else. He was a bigger danger as a Senator. As VP he’s a danger only as the deciding vote in case of a tie in the Senate. Now if you don’t want Harris to win then I think the bigger danger is Josh Shapiro.
