The rap music comment is interesting. I remember a fanzine interview with Mark saying "no black man is going to come up to me and call me the fucking oppressor, because as far as I'm concerned, I'm not oppressing him. He's probably oppressing me because I have to watch his music on TV and I don't particularly like it very much"

@@stephen3511 Like most people who go around correcting word usage he's wrong. Not dead wrong as, if you only looked at the etymology or the first definition what he has said is true. It is also the most accurate way to use the word. But since it's adoption from French it has always been used to mean "onenessish" and while many academics will imagine without considering the history of the words utilization that this was erroneous use and a watering down of the word from the 1600s to the 1800s that is ignoring the understanding people speaking English had about using french words to explain concepts. "The way of the thing" is often implied as the meaning by using french in English at all by nature. A philologist might be needed for that context, as you have to look at what's around a thing and not the thing itself to see the thing as it's relationship is always more important than its innate qualities. Your use was definitely normal and there is nothing wrong with it. Standard stuff. The second definition in most dictionaries usually mention this. I would usually be saying definitions are meaningless tripe and merely an educated interpretation and to look to the etymology with the words you choose to speak, but this is a rare case where the way it is introduced into the language and a history of loose usage is the issue.

@@SciFiAssasin There really is little or no difference, all the "4K" videos on this channel are captured from VHS, Beta, video8. @@ScottishTeeVee I think the 4K phase will be die out. HDR is more important than the amount of pixels. 4K is waaaaay more than anyone will ever need, as you have to be uncomfortably close to the screen to discern the difference from 2K. 4K is only for selling TVs, after 3D tanked.
