Just some thoughts I have so far. I like the questions and how patiently you listen Lukas. It's so nice to hear how about this journey started for Mark, somehow it's easy to forget the struggle when you see all the current work

This was a nice conversation to watch! I had a question about normal compulsions though if anyone could help, I’ve made good progress in cutting out the clinical aspect of compulsions but when it comes to “normal” compulsions I’m still lost, with traveling for example I find over and over I continue to forget things or misplace them yet when I double check I usually find something I’m forgetting, I guess I just don’t know what makes what I’m doing compulsive? I see the runway as you called it in my brain how that wants me to check and control more things after double checking but at the same time I’m trying to be proactive and take care of myself and the things I need for things like traveling

Side note, I recently found out I’m also autistic and am trying to learn how to let myself engage in repetitive behaviors I actually enjoy like listening to my favorite music over and over because it’s a special interest, it can seemingly get muddy with repetitive behaviors being it could be seen as compulsive even though it’s something I want to let myself to enjoy, yet in my head it’s deemed as compulsive

Thank you! With traveling I’d look at taking care of things proactively. If you have to do it often setting up a system will be super beneficial. For example making a list of stuff you need to pack and crossing it off once you’ve packed it. Then it’s going to be about trusting that process and not going back to check! The music one is interesting because I get it too. I think it’s fine to listen to a song I really enjoy multiple times. But then I like to practice just listening, and not doing other stuff at the same time. I also find it fun to sometimes switch up and just play a playlist on shuffle and not control which song comes up!

That's why I go hiking: you never know when somebody in a forest may want to have a conversation about brains.
