WHOOP if so, WAYYY back in May when the announcement of movies came and soon after rumors of Mark and Carrie getting in shape, I TWITTERED TO MARK HOW GREAT HE WOULD LOOK LIKE THE EARLY SCRIPT SKYWALKER WITH HIS BEARD FROM THE MOVIE SLIPSTREAM as a Grand Jedi Knight!!!! SQueee!!

Mark actually looks a little like a younger Orson Welles with a beard from the eyes set and nose forehead/hairline

I think a beard would be a good idea. With Hamill's age his injuries from his youth (His car accident) have become much more visible. Of course this could play to an advantage with a war torn Luke but a beard would help people be more accepting of this change. Just a tidy beard though, nothing big, I think one mimicking Alec's would be great.

I suppose you have a good point, Luke was always unique among the Jedi and as such he should symbolise a new generation of Jedi evolving from the old republic's ways. It's like the little braid as a mark of a Padawan, they should move away from things like that. Having said that, I personally think he would look great with one but I guess we can agree to disagree. :)
