Seen this a few times, never fails to impress. Taking TT course on with this level of commitment, car or bike, just blows my mind. Absolutely nowhere to go if it all goes shit shaped!

Love Mr Higgins and love the IOM.. We used to go over in the 1980s for the Manx rally every year so have seen him compete here a few times. Always exciting and always committed as in this video. I remember coming down off the mountain towards Ramsey hurrying along in between stages and running out of brakes in my lovely Dolly Sprint. We made it though and lived to tell the tale. Thank you for this fantastic video.

nipping a bit of kerb at 170 going into the alpine section, really scary tbh, great drive. feel blessed to have watched this at cronk y voddy, i hope this type of thing returns to the TT, it gave it that bit of extra special sauce.

Great effort. Bikes are now up to 136 mph, but it's taken many great riders a number of years to get to that. 128 mph by one driver in one car in one year is special.

Spectacular driving. It was great to see the sections of the course you never get to see during the bike events, even though it was all a blur lol.

4:20 to 4:55 absolutely flat out bouncing off the rev limiter in top at 175mph! On a public road in a Scooby! So cool! Plus they could clearly go even faster on this section alone by a longer top gear. Although he did mention the possibility of going airborne? So maybe not?

JEEZ, I can drive fast but this is something else, but if you didn't know the road there is NO WAY you could drive that fast. I'd love to give this thing a blast on an empty A5 in North Wales. Not much can keep up with me in a 1.9 TDi Bora, this would be AWESOME.

I noticed that the top speed is "only" 175mph, and in many points of the track he keeps that speed for quite a long time, and the engine is at its maximum range. Why didn't he choose a faster car? Let's say that it can have a top speed of 200mph, like a Porsche for instance (a GT3 RS might be good). A bike used in the TT race has a top speed around 200mph, or even more. Anyway, impressive and scary, very well done! Thanks for the video Fifth Gear!

Is it slower than the bikes ?

I'm curious why this lap is slower than the bike record, cars are generally faster on road courses due to higher cornering speeds, I guess there're enough flat out straight enough sections for the bike to take the cake
