Saw Behind The Candelabra in the Queens Film Theatre Belfast (the only cinema in Northern Ireland to have the intelligence to show this film). I was so, so impressed with the performances of Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, I loved the retro intro at the beginning of the film. The direction was sharp and depicted Scott Thorson's time with Liberarce as one big drug trip. An intimate portrait of two lovers in the bizzare world of show business.

Awesome film! All the actors were great. Hopefully Douglas and Damon will get a Golden Globe for their performance. And Rob Lowe, WOW!!!!

Rob Lowe is just laugh-out-hilarious in his scenes! The plastic surgery in jokes are hilarious

Many thanks, Mr Kermode in fine form. 'Once he gets sucked into Liberace's world...' No pun intended, presumably.

It's not just popular to insist that HBO is above mere television, it's their motto, it's not TV, it's HBO.

Director Steven Soderbergh delivers A smartly casted, stylish, accurate, strongly acted & terrific biopic that’s one of 2013’s best films. (97%) (5/5 stars) (positive)

I really liked this. Wonderful performances from everyone [could've done with more Rob Lowe lol], great script, nice story. Really strange but also great fun I do think that it's not a movie though. It's like a T.V. soap opera for most of the time.....not necessarily a criticism per se; I just think that it's really only cinemas here because of the A-list stars involved :)

Robe Lowe as Dr Startz , doesn't even need to say anything and you'll literally be ROFL. When ever he was on screen I could not even control my self. It's just outrageous to point of stupidity.

Oh for christ's sake. I really hope you are trolling. If you are not, then - Please thrill us with your opinions as to how, *precisely* the foundations of society is broken by something that always has and always will exist. You'll probably ignore this comment, because you can't logically explain your ignorance.

Elvis' bejeweled jump suits, his rings, jewels, cars were influenced by Liberace.....

You're mind is corrupt due to your upbringing. But don't worry, you are not inherently bad. If you try hard enough, you can keep your level of ignorance in the green. Good luck!

No offense, but it did feel like a tv-movie-of-the-week, in fact there were two already in the eighties. I know it's popular to insist that HBO is above mere television, but the bio-pics and literary-based miniseries they do today is exactly the kind of stuff the big three networks used to do before reality and karaoke shit screwed up the business model. Realistically, I don't see how a Liberace movie can be considered "too gay" for Hollywood in 2013 but "straight enough" for a tv-movie in 1988.

I think he's stereotyping and simplifying people of the 50's and 60's. I'm sure people generally knew he was gay but just didn't mind.
