Woody is 77. His time is precious. He's certainly proved his mettle as writer, director and actor, and I think he should make movies exactly and precisely when his muse strikes. I'll happily tolerate a "Melinda & Melinda" or "Anything Else" if it means getting a "Husbands and Wives" or "Midnight in Paris." I love looking forward to his annual offering, and I think he realizes his remaining years are few and that whatever he still has to say, he needs to say it soon. Slow down? No time!

I really enjoyed this film. I'm really glad Allen is still working today, and in my opinion, his weaker films aren't that bad.

"I wish he would slow down and make better films, but less of them..." That's exactly what he should do, even if both Midnight in Paris and Blue Jasmine rank among his best works.

Insightful review, but how ironic to comment on the character of Jasmine launching into dialogs which are actually MONOLOGS, and then to give a review in which you never stop talking to come up for air. How thankless for your radio partner.

Not enough explosions and helicopter chases in Woody Allen movies. Perhaps if he focused less on witty character study and more on Uzi's and violence he would be more acceptable to modern audiences. Allen needs to cast Jason Statham and Stallone. Perhaps both in the same movie. That would really be marvelous. Simply marvelous. - Edgar

I came out of this film with very very mixed feelings about it. Brilliant acting, especially Blanchette and Hawkins throughout, very well directed and shot on the one hand. On the other it was full to the brim of bitterness, appears to be an apology from a rich man to the working class, and despite being largely about two sisters struggles to pass the Bechdel test. The characters were set up to be anything but likeable - no-one came out of it with any dignity except for Hawkins's ex-husband.

The man Woody Allen may suck but the artist/director Woody Allen is among the best.

I thought Louis CK was brilliant in this film too.

Mike Leigh (writer/director) made more life-like movies with comedy thrown in than Woody Allen in a sense because his movies are more poignant. Allen made like 42 terrible movies that sold well because of the actors in them and not because of the talent in the actual story or dialogue

Stop waving your hands around Mark, you’re like that guy on Sky Arts who does the same thing when he reviews movies. It’s very distracting.
