Absolutely wonderful! One of the best songs ever written, by one of the brightest musicians of our time!

I am lucky to have been there, that evening in April 2005 in Lyon. More than 15 years later, I remember being stunned at the end of this masterpiece. It was just perfect. For me, it was already Mark's best song, but here, it became THE reference. Everything is there, a perfect voice, 2 big red marshalls at 5m from me, a powerful guitar and an exceptional fluidity. If you have a bootleg to find, this is the gig. All the planets were aligned. This entire concert is the pinnacle of Mark Knopfler's solo career.

My dad past away 20 years ago he was without a doubt ur biggest fan he listened 2 ur music night and day all my memories of him have dire straits playing in the background, thank you or bringing so much joy 2 him tunnel of love was always his favourite as we live in whitley Bay rip Ken holohan

He made a home in the wilderness. He built a cabin and a winter store. And he digged up the ground by the cold lake shore. The other travellers came walking down the track. They never went further, they never went back. Then came the churches, then came the schools, then came the lawyers, then came the rules...... ........ ......And the birds up on the wires and the telegraph poles ; they can always fly from the rain and this cold. Hi Marc this is still one of my favorite even if its a long time ago. Its a Fantastico Masterpiece from a genius yes👍👏👏👏. There is so much soul and blues in it. Ive to fight against my tears...😉 it remembers me my nice teenager age with good friends in Davos, Switzerland. I always told to everybody : you Marc , Gary Moore and Carlos Santana were and still the best guitare players ever👍👍👍. What i like most in this song is the bright melody here combined with the wonderful story and the fantastic soul with your singing guitar. BRAVO❤❤❤

What an incredible performance. The interplay of the B-3 organ with the acoustic piano is phenomenal here, in league with the masterful guitar work.

There should be an official release on cd and vinyl. Or it should at least be on Spotify so I can crank it up while driving. This version is amazing and blows away all live versions after this (my opinion)

One of the best uploads on this channel. I saw Mark in 2005 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre unfortunately the tour didn’t have screens and I bought gold seating. I was just too far away to see his magic hands work during this song and sultans. If it wasn’t for the bootleggers I wouldn’t have been able to see this magic after the show. One of the best set lists on this tour ever! Mark was incredible and I believe he toured even after a mortar cycle accident that year. Incredible.

Thank you so much for posting this one Mark... 😍 I had a bootleg of this years ago, and remember this specific version of T.R. on this gig very well, and it really blew me away at the time. To this day, for me, nobody can touch the versions of T.R. from the Dire Straits days, Alan Clark's performance on the piano parts are untouchable for me, his playing, timing, tension building and drama are difficult to match, also on Romeo and Juliet, the On the Night version is still the best ever, of all time, for me. On this tour Matt Rollins came very close to recreate Alan's magic on the piano on this one..... 😍 Mark, of course, is perfect every single time he plays this 😍

And I still remember that singular pressure behind my left rib cage during the fist bars of this gem that night, from the first row.
