one of the best and last musicina /singer in this messy planet, i will miss you buddy... "i was in the battery, but they did put me as singer, not cause i was good, but because singer was a very good baterist..."- only lanegan could say sucj thing...
@@travzimmerman1340 Maybe read and learn more about Mark Lanegan instead of just saying its "super odd" with his gold teeth? It's out there, don't be ignorant.
I'm blown away by many of his later solo stuff ( Gravedigger's Song, Harbor view Hospital ,THIS) as well as his first records and as good as those album were, he somehow... IMPROVED?! It's ridiculous how he just got better, and better ...and BETTER...
@@guydammit3287 : I was introduced to Mark through his work w/ Soulsavers. Even now, and I do listen to him daily, it's still his work w/ Soulsavers and solo work that I listen to. I haven't heard most of his singing w/ QOTSA and I may have heard a couple of songs by Screaming Trees. As you say, he just kept getting better and better and better.
Mark Lanegan is such a gem. Humble, hard-working, talented. Great to see him making cool videos to go with his superb music. A living legend in my book. Met him once. Lovely chap.
Mark Lanegan will always be one of my favourite artists of all time. I always listen to his songs with my dad and it's always a great memory that's made. Thank you Mr for all of the great songs you put out in your life!
When he sings the lyrics "you gave me this gift I love you still alone I drift" makes me think he's talking about Kurt Cobain. At that moment he jumps into the water like the nevermind album of the baby. I feel like he's talking about the music industry in this song. I'm probably wrong but Love this song, RIP Mark. Bubblegum, Gutter Twins and Mad Season were my favorites, but he had sooo much it was crazy.
What I love about Mark is how the moment he's done playing, he goes to have a ciggy and will sit and talk/sign all his fans in line til the very last one. Such a humble yet extraordinary, swaggerish talent
Had the exact same experience...he took the time to sign my stuff, take a picture with me, we shook hands and even chatted for a minute...I'll be seeing him once again in Zagreb, Croatia next month, can't wait!
@@drej1981 Naoko grub a zapravo jako pristojan tip, čak pomalo stidljiv. Kad je bio u Primoštenu imala sam priliku družiti se s njim 20-tak min...zafrkancija, smijanje, slikanje, potpisivanje i zagrljaj na kraju. Nezaboravno iskustvo! Vidimo se u Zagrebu 🤘😁
when i saw him his wife helped him off the stage and he just vanished, pretty sure i saw duke garwood hanging around outside the venue but the friend i was with didn't like his set and wanted to go home so i didn't get to say hi. shame really, duke's set was fantastic and i'd just bought a guitar very similar to the one he was using and i really wanted to know how he was getting that level of feedback, mine screeches like blixa bargeld at the end of stagger lee by nick cave instead of feeding back properly
We '90s Seattle music fans need to pool our money together to pay for an around-the-clock security detail to ensure that Lanegan doesn't share the same fate that too many of his contemporary colleagues met with (First we lost MLB's Andy Wood, then Cobain, followed by A.i.C.'s Staley, and Cornell most-recently -- add The Stig's Mia Zapatta who was the victim of a heinous rape and murder) -- we need Lanegan to stick around for decades to come to keep making his high-caliber music as an antidote to the brainless drivel that passes for popular music these days.
RIP you wild animal Mark, you beautiful spirit. Kabul is in my top 3 Lanegan songs, I've watched this music video 5-10 times. Seems like he really enjoyed making this one, hope to catch you on the otherside when it's my time.
Damn he still has horns! Been trippin to Lanegan since the 90's. One of the last of a very special group of singers that have weaved their poems through the events of my life...
The man had a very unique vocal color and a beautiful collection of lumberjack shirts. Now the man is free, resting out there. Rest in peace my good man.
Mark Lanegan remains one of my favorite musicians. I do miss his blues. Even though i'm not a huge fan of the synth style mix, I give him much respect for doing what he wants and keeping the tunes rolling out.
@James Hama Been pretty rough, hasn't it? A bit better now but damn.. Lanegan dying kicked off a bunch of personal trails and hurdles to overcome. Serious pet health problems, father in law spontaneously falling into a state of psychosis. it hasn't been fun. How bout you? Doin alright? BTW, dude, thanks for checking in. That means a lot to me. Huge respect.
Rest In Peace Starchild...You & your contemporaries probably never knew just how deeply your style of living your art touched so many of us Lost Gen X'ers...I became a musician/singer/songwriter & an Author because of the way your Art touched me. Equal Parts Bitter + Sweet, Grunge Monkeys like me lived for the euphoric freedom and beauty of your Music as well as the cold, soul-shattering pain of the Truth, which you left on full display through every note, every lyric, and every show. Godspeed Mark, you were one of the brightest... Catch you in the Afterglow....
Beautifully put. For better or worse, Lanegan was brutally authentic.. I miss every damn thing about him and rue that deficit of authenticity his absence has left us. Lanegan, living or dead, is without peers.
Mark has never had anything to do with the mainstream anyway. He's ahead even today.. 💔 The few videos we have are classy, soulful and much more like the really well made from the beautiful 90s. 🖤
I'd say the 90's, not the 80's w/ Mark. I'm a huge fan of 80's music but Mark can take us darker, which, to me, is more of a 90's vibe than 80's when generalizing. Do you know what I mean? Obviously, in the grand scheme, Mark's music is timeless. Difficult to tell when exactly this song was recorded. ~ I watched an interview w/ him last week from around 2010. The person interviewing him complimented him on his voice. You could see that he didn't like being complimented, very humble. But, in answer, he did credit his voice, especially as he was getting older, to his cigarette smoking. I'm sure you can think of other singers who absolutely blew their range because of the habit. But, in that way, Mark's an anomaly. An amazingly wonderful anomaly, who I listen to daily. 🙂
This fucking song is so terribly addictive much like many of the things Mark writes so matter-of-factly about in his outstanding book “Sing Backwards and Weep: A Memoir”... Such a killer track bro, can’t get enough of it or all of the great stories, I’ll place a standing order for plenty more of both!!
RIP, a true rnr Artist. you wont be forgotton, sad sad news. absolutley loved the book you wrote 'sing backwards and weep' a masterpiece. goodbye Mark Lanegan.
Is there gold, is there gold in Kabul? I've been there in a nest of snakes I've been there as a blackout artist Everyone there trying to take my place Is there gold? Is there gold? I was there as a midnight watchman I was there for a masquerade I was there as a makeup artist Everyone trying to point the blame Is there gold? Is there gold? I sawed myself in halves I grew myself a pair of horns You gave to me this gift I love you still, alone I drift Is there gold, gold in Kabul? I've been there in a suicide vest I've been there with a hangman rising Everyone trying to take the piss Is there gold? Is there gold? I sawed myself in halves I grew myself a pair of horns You gave to me this gift I love you still, alone I drift You can walk from there to China From state to reptilian state Holy Americans, singing vespers Convinced they control somebody's fate Is there gold? Is there gold? I sawed myself in halves I grew myself a pair of hooves You gave to me this gift I love you still, alone I drift Is there gold? Is there gold? Is there gold? Is there gold? Is there gold? Is there gold?
This is such an awesome and catchy song. I've been listening to it on repeat all day, which hasn't happened since I was a teenager many years ago. Congratulations, Mark Lanegan, this is incredible and I hope your new album gets a lot of recognition, it certainly deserves it. And do come back to Russia with a tour: while your fan base here is not that big, there are many people who like good music. Much love from St. Petersburg
It don’t get any better than this ,he was still turning out album after album of consistently great material dark mark you are much missed my friend R I P
Sadly Tool sucks cock nowadays. They’ve exploited the formula. Of course it’s just my opinion. Mr Lanegan on the other hand never disappoints. Hopefully seeing him in november in Warsaw.
@@specialdefect00 Tool to me always was boring the technical aspect of tools music is great but technicality doesn’t equal/guarantee a good song . A perfect circle seemed more experimental and Versatile to me .
The most interesting and vital force in rock music today. Like his legendary peers no longer with us, Mark always has something worthwhile and instructive to say through his words and music.
He's really proven himself to be an artist of quality and integrity. I pretty much like all of his solo work and judging from this song his latest project will be worthwhile too.
