Same here. I've been watching/listening to this every other day for several months now. It's the best live performance I can find on RU-vid. Such a massive loss.
Agreed. More of us true Lanegan fans need to get his name further into the masses. I'd love to see him score some films. I'm covering a few of his songs, check'em out.
This man and his song sculpting abilities has no equal , none . I'm 53 , of course I knew of the Screaming Trees back when they were first putting out LPs way back , wayyyyyy back. I did dig um , though overnight it seems they /Mark fell off my radar . Fast forward 20 + years and i kept seeing a few of his works when I was jammin on the QOTSA library. I clicked on one of the pics on the right on RU-vid. A acoustic show with the lyrical genius Mark and doing the guitar on the show was the late great Dave Rosser. I was efn blowed away . I instantly related to his way efn koooool lyrics and AWESOMENESS persona. I never looked back . The man's music literally saved me a few times in my life . Women , drugs, so on . When I heard the news , it literally stopped me in my tracks. This one really hurt. You were the absolute kooooolest mo fo on the plant guy . Thanks man , I will listen to your genius library of art until I leave this fabulous place . RIP brother . You certainly deserve it . . . .
I'm finally able to be OK with pain I feel for a musicians passing. Idk I just really depended on him for years. Cliche , but he made sense of the world for me. Thank you Mr Yardbrough, you've helped me move on a little bit, just knowing I'm not alone
This was a kick in the gut. Just lost my brother 3 weeks before.I still had residual shock and this happened! Wham!! A visceral punch in the face. Mark never really got the recognition of how very good he was. A full on hero to me.
I sometimes chuckle when looking at Mark's facial expressions when singing (same with Jimi Hendrix 🤣), but I know when I sing I do the same sort of thing. I usually have my eyes closed and squint them and everything. It's just a habit I can't help.

I often wonder if Mark had any idea how rich his legacy would be; how deeply his music was felt and how much it means to those of us who love it so much 💔🖤🩶
he was never the sort to look back, or live in the past. for example he signed my copy of his masterpiece "whiskey for the holy ghost" "thanks for making me sign this piece of shit, Mark"
I have watched alot of Mr langegan's later live acoustic stuff and this set from Ding dong is beautifully mixed. I'm glad I get to keep this memory. It's coming up to the second anniversary since Mark left us. It still hurts.
What a loss to music. My favourite live performer of all time.gifted but hampered by life.but I’m sure that he lived it to the full.always will be remembered by me.
I met a new man in my life in Dec 2021. He introduced me to Mark Lanegan’s music. My man met Mark and spoke to him once, In the same venue we met. I was instantly taken in by Marks emotional performance and beautiful voice. We promised each other that we’d see Mark together the next time he played the UK…. It wasn’t to be. Such a loss. Gone too soon. I continue to be enthralled by Mark Lanegan’s rich back catalogue and love to search out videos like this one. Fabulously intimate… The gig I never saw.
I can only dream to play as good as Jeff. Mark was lucky to have a lot of A-grade guitarists backing him up but Jeff's special. Other than Rosser, I don't think any guy could convey the mood of these songs so well acoustically.
Saw him in 2019 Detroit, St Andrews, The Shelter..great concert with Simon Bonney opening. Had a chance to speak with him one on one at the end of the show…how privileged I was🙏
Thank you for sharing this. I watch this at least 3 times a week. Mark, I will never forget you, your beautiful dark poetic music, and how that voice of yours talks to my soul. Your eclectic taste in music is so much like mine. In my mind, you are still alive through all your art, and you always will be,... 🐺♥
I was at this gig. Beyond a few ST and QOSTA tracks I didn’t know much of Mark at that time. It was the first time I heard the line “and I drunk myself sick” - ice chills still hit me when I hear it.
Been appreciating him. From his interviews and podcasts he felt the love. He was in a good place with those of us who loved. I don't think he liked big crowds anyway
I've been on a big time Mark Lanegan/Screaming Trees trip the past few YEARS now after listening to Mark's memoir "Sing Backwards and Weep" and can't get enough of it. This is the best live footage I've ever seen of Mark and that's saying a lot due to the sheer amount of videos I've seen of him. RIP Dark Mark ❤️🖤❤️❤️🖤
God bless You Mark
really... Where may that be in a dark room filled with sadness and doubt ,Self hatred & guilt .I guess this is my favorite place too after i sold out to get high my entire life
@@dvlm0928 Nope not even close to the same page, One would have to live & breath the misery called drug addition to even come close to understanding what the truth of the matter is/was and will continue to be, Enjoy your sheltered little life in your sheltered little box as you miss the true meaning of all you thought you've heard.
@@gatormcklusky5850 what? The meaning of music is very personal for each person. Since when your problems are others people fault? Or since when your mistakes and nightmares make you the only owner of the truth? I enjoy my favorite music the way I want without venting my personal life on RU-vid. I still wish you the best in your journey, and hopefully you will stop attacking me since don’t even know me. Peace and bye
Jeff fielding really progressional getting over those broken strings and keeping he’s cool and making up for it in the last song.... and mark awesome as ever
Absolutely !!!!! "ALL I KNOW" from "Dust" ! "DISAPPEARING", from "Uncle Anesthesia" !!! Just played these 2 over and over and over. went to sleep, woke up listening to them a hundred more. I'm 74 and don't know anyone who can sing better than that. That's only MY feelings. So all you Trolls, you can have your favorites too.
I love EVERYTHING Mark has ever done. He's collaborated with 23 different persons/groups and I play them all. Some day..... people with their favorites coming from the "TREES", will overwhelm Mark and he'll HAVE to have a REUNION. (PLEASE, PLEASE)
@@64TMS He once said that he would only have an interest in touring with the Screaming Trees again if he was offered at least a million bucks. Well unfortunately nobodies offering him the million bucks.
I was hopeful to see him live, I've been obsessed with him since first got hold of The Screaming Trees in early 90s. Those guys great as well but noone sings and fills my heart like Mark Lanegan. God, I feel sorry for myself
I saw Mark in Adelaide in 2012 and he was amazing and kind enough to sign my WInding Sheet LP but I would've killed to have seen him in this setting rather than with a band, as I think this is where he really shines. Hopefully once artists can start touring internationally again he makes an Australian stop.
In 2016 I drove 7 hours to Bologna, Italy to see Mark's show in a small theater (for the 4th time that year). I was so disappointed when I saw that there wasn't a band with him, but only him and a guitar player (Jeff Fielder). Nonetheless that was the best show that I've ever been to (by various artists).
This is an amazing performance, I love the intimate setting and I knew this had to be somewhere outside of the US. American audience would never have been as quiet and engaged, I guess we’re just not like that sadly. This is a gift to have after losing Mark back in February. When I read the news of his passing, it was the first time I’ve ever cried over the loss of a famous person or someone I didn’t know personally. I did feel like, thru his music and lyrics, on a spiritual level he knew me and I felt like I knew him. His music has meant so much to me and changed the way I think about writing music, singing, and more. I love this man and his incredible and unique voice. Rest In Peace Mr. “Dark Mark” Lanegan. The worlds a little less bright without you in it. ❤️
That’s not entirely true. I’ve been to at least 4 shows of his, each one different but I’m reminded of a set at Chicago school of folk music where it was again just him and Zander featured here and it was a breathtaking show. One of my fondest memories despite almost falling off of the balcony
Love your comments. They're So Right On! I agree with what you said about the US. And we really missed out. He took his beautiful music and toured where he knew it would be appreciated. We missed out. But so grateful we have his music and some of the clips from him LIVE!
Did you miss the part where the drunk lady screams "FUCK YEEEEEEEEAH!!!" at multiple points during the show, including in several climactic and important parts? See St. Louis Elegy. She completely ruins the final "....and I've drunk myself sick."
Wow, he is on my RU-vid, Spotify, my vinyl, cd player. I was 17 when Nirvana exploded, so listen to S Trees. Remember a freind played ”Bubbelgum”, fell in love whith Pj Harvey. But what a ride im on, my song writing went cold turky for 8 - 10 weeks. But seens Mr Lanegan came into my life, im inspierd. Your gone, but your songs fills my room whith your spirit. RIP
Such an awesome singer and interpreter of songs!!! Hit the city acoustic!!!! * Tim Burton, Jeffrey Lee Pierce and so many more, Marks versions are on another level!
Godspeed Mark . The world is a little less soulful with your loss, but we will revel in the memories we made to your intensely passionate & honest music. Thanks 4 your contributions 2 music .
I can put this on loud and dick around the house for an hour and its the highlight of my day. Thank you Mark Lanegan for staying true to your music and always surrounding yourself with fantastic musicians.
