Transcribing Mark Lettieri songs might be one of the wisest things a guitar player can do in 21th century. The iq the groove the time and execution. This guy is the guy i wanna be one day.
Mark is becoming one of my favorite players period. Technically a monster with full command of what ever he wants but a creative genius makes him a stand out to me! Inspiring!
This is actually very interesting. For example the music from "Polar Express" reminds me of seeing California from plane. Any song can remind anyone of anything else.
You can't teach or learn the touch.....it's not in the dot's, its in the interpretation the heart and the soul that travels to the touch on the fretboard, put this together with great composition skills and there you have it....Mark Lettieri...
This is so tasteful - groovy - awesome. I'm a guitarist and am just discovering mark. I'm doing my prayer, meditation time in the morning with his music going. I couldn't not listen to it again after hearing it for the first time yesterday!
This makes me wonder how I'll ever go about navigating the fretboard like this. It's not only technique, it's knowledge, talent, vision, touch, note selection, knowing when not to play, and finally this guy has great tone too!
Gotta study scales vertically and horizontally. By horizontally I mean to study the scales like if you just had one string available. Do it string by string.
Well said 50Something! Besides everything you said I believe his seemingly effortless navigation of the fretboard mostly come with his experience and holding a guitar while he's awake more than he does anything else. To me, it's like how effortless Dave Weckl seems behind the drums. And obviously they aren't the only ones but they are by far 2 of the very best at their craft. Sometimes it appears they aren't even really trying lol. Jk... The amount of hours they've put in (experience) just playing everyday and probably some days from sun up to sun down. If they had an idea and were to tell how often and how many hours they've put in during their lifetime, it would probably blow our minds.😉
@@valebliz I think I expressed myself in a simplistic way. I agree it's not the only thing to do. But this exercise I mentioned helped me a lot. I started doing it after reading a Mick Goodrick book. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of this book.
OMG! Thank you for your Music, Big Guy! I'm so thankful for your inspiration and your Geniuos! It's such a pleasure to see and hear this. Gamechangingly beautiful!!! Looove it!!!
All of you just nail it every time, but Wes and JT absolutely KILL it in the groove department. Being a bass player, when I grow up (I'm 70) I want to be just like Wes.
