As part of the exhibition “Trace - Formation of Likeness”, photography expert Mark Sealy OBE gives a lecture in which he addresses the politics of representation in museums. The museum, once a centre of affirmation and imperialist knowledge exchange, has been targeted, addressed as a hostile site that produces “instruments of violence.” In response, the “House of Other” is emerging, a new cultural space where everyone is welcome. In the “House of Other”, the uncomfortable narratives of the history of photography are subjected to scrutiny.
Mark Sealy OBE, born in 1960, is a British curator and cultural historian. Since 1991, he has been director of Autograph ABP, the Association of Black Photographers in London. Sealy is particularly concerned with photography that addresses issues of social change, identity politics, and human rights. His books include “Photography: Race, Rights and Representation” (2022) and “Decolonizing the Camera: Photography in Racial Times” (2019), and he is the author of the exhibition accompanying publication for “Trace”.

Im Rahmen der Ausstellung „Trace - Formation of Likeness“ hält der Fotografieexperte Mark Sealy OBE einen Vortrag, in dem er sich mit der Repräsentationspolitik des Museums auseinandersetzt. Mark Sealy OBE, geboren 1960, ist ein britischer Kurator und Kulturhistoriker. Seit 1991 ist er Direktor von Autograph ABP, the Association of Black Photographers in London.
