Although all patients seek out our help because they are suffering, not all psychological suffering is of the same kind and not all people are the same.
The following are the writings of Freud from which Solms structures this lecture: On Narcissism: An introduction (1914) Formulations on the Two Principles of Mental Functioning (1911) Group Psychology and the Analysis of the Ego (1921, this one not so sure but the part about ego ideal, ideal of the ego is here) The Ego and the Id (1923) Instincts and Their Vicissitudes (1915) Repression (1915) The Unconscious (1915) Also a lot of these texts are sumarized in An Outline of Psychoanalysis (1938) Not so sure which of Kleins writings is he basing on but a lot of what he talks about is on "Envy and gratitude & other works, 1946-1963"
I don't understand the expression around 0:55-56. "There's a (...) between ego and id, between ego and superego." It sounds like "rent" but that can't be right?
