if it's apple and Meta then i'm gonna have to pick Apple but a Good Comparison would Be HoloLens 2 from Microsoft. The main point of AR is the accuracy of the Content maintaining hold in the same place while you move around

apple's price is way too high compared to the quest 3 and quest pro, meta also has an advantage of being in the industry longer - apple's tech is really impressive though

I think if there is healthy competition between Meta with their ten-year head start, and Apple with their unlimited R&D budgets, then in general and over time --- ---- the Consumer will win!

Or because it doesn't have 3 screen, 12 cameras, 6 microphones and 2 cpus inside of it. But yeah, they for sure collect and maybe sell some of your data, but expect this from both ways. Maybe apple doesn't sell it, doesn't mean it doesn't collect it. Every piece of software collects data about it users, even if it's only for monitoring or improving the product.

@@zip3704 Could also be because the video footage Luke is recording is 4k, and then when he uses this clip it exaggerates it because it isn't very high quality (probably 720p). You can also add in some instagram and RU-vid compression.

My main intention (which I did a bad job at presenting) was to point out that Meta never laid out a strong foundation for general computing in AR/VR from the all-but-required controllers, lack of any sort of standardization in UI (just look at how many different video player UIs a user has to learn), to a very limited number of 2D apps. Most of modern computing is built on 2D interfaces which the Vision Pro already has a leg up on when it comes to those. Many of our existing use cases for computing (largely text-based) aren't necessarily made better by being forced into 3D interfaces. Meta's approach thus far has been to focus on finding immersive experiences (mostly games, really) but largely ignoring our existing paradigms. Apple has a long way to go when it comes to truly leveraging the headset's capabilities but I believe they were right to not ignore what people already do with their other devices, today and build on top of that foundation.

He did mention several. Fitness and social apps, and RU-vid VR. He can't say it, but also adult content. There's a lot of non gaming experiences on Quest that aren't on AVP (yet). Virtual tourism (Wander, Brink), Music production (Virtuoso, TribeXR), Music instruction (Pianovision, Paradiddle). Though I expect the ecosystem for vision pro to be much bigger and better a couple years down the road.

Quest is good for gaming already. Giving up on it will be a mistake for this headset. It probably it's best use. If we include fitness as gaming.

Well, don't you think Meta will not develop its Quest Line as well? By the way, I am 100% sure Meta could have made a Quest Ultra with similiar specs already, but they chose not to since VR is still at the beginning and only Apple as a brand can bring a 3500 device and still be sold. Thats the power of a renowned brand like Apple. If Apple would be bought by Elon Musk he would probably rename it to "Pears", and throw the brand into the trash :D

They are trying to create a fan war, to create fanboy loyalties its an old marketing trick, older even than Nintendo vs Sega or Sony vs Microsoft. millennia older in fact. Two sides come together and agree to stir up blind hatred of the other side, to provoke their fans into pledging loyalty to them, in the ensuing furore the fans completely forget that both products are complete trash and are more concerned with sticking it to the other side. people are dumb like that.

Yeah I saw that same sentiment with Eddie burback saying something similar where with other vr stuff he watched movies with his brother on a vr steam app. But he said vision was more isolating as he couldn’t do that with the Vision Pro or do much with the device that kept his attention.

​@@xuhwj11 The blur is mainly because of camera sensor exposure time, not OLED. That's why the blur is exaggerated in darker environments - The cameras have to expose for longer, making every frame a little smeared when moving quickly. Tho OLED might contribute to that blur. Also, because he missed that, it doesn't mean Luke does not know what he's talking about. He's usually very thorough in his research.

It seems like the main issue with the AVP hand tracking is that it's 30Hz. Absolutely crazy decision, but extremely Apple. Otherwise hand tracking is similar but Apple gesture recognition and range is better. Not anywhere near enough to justify being 7 times more expensive, but better.

that is true, none of the tech on the vision pro is new or revolutionary, in true apple fashion they simply made some rather strange design decisions that somehow just work together. honestly though, i cannot believe they released a headset before some solution to verifocal lensing was found, many users will get eye strain and other vr sickness from the device because of that, and that just seems very un-apple like

@@wwtapsableyeah, as an Apple fan, I’m not impressed with the Vision Pro, tried it, it’s nothing special. My quest 2 really is enough VR until we make some significant steps forward with the tech.

Apple has sucked up so much attention in such a short amount of time and Mark must be sitting there seeing this and thinking to himself “like WTF? We’ve never had coverage like this.” This video is about trying to hitchhike on that wave and reminding people that “hey guys we’re here too you know? And our headset is pretty damn good also”.

Disney has a "holo tile floor" patent that would allow walking in one place for one or a group of people. Apple has partnered with Disney+ for movie playback, just one more partnership and Apple and Disney will have what you have suggested.

It's an "open" development platform that isn't locked into having to function around official Quest-catered services. Basic users are free to unlock any Quest headsets' full capabilities just by confirming a setting for their Meta account that they understand the risks of running sideloaded programs and attempting to violate copyright, and this open system is very accessible to app devs which desire to develop their products for running on standalone Quest hardware. Apple demands an arm and a leg in order to grant any higher level access, even to _developers._ They're also already doing the classic Apple shtick of only allowing Apple-brand charging cables and Macbook-only computer integrations. Compare that to Quest headsets which have standard USB cables with zero shenanigans, and fleshed out sdks which allow developers to create apps like Virtual Desktop or Steam Link - two optional apps that directly compete with the Quest's built-in airlink feature, and _these tools are designed to run on multiple operating systems unlike the Vision Pro's alternative._ I observe this video being a different sort of fear from Zuck. One that instead of being based in envy is instead based on market concern, from how terrible of an impact the Apple Vision Pro might have on the headset market just from the sheer fact of how bad of a product it is and it possibly hurting the Quest's image as well. It adds insult to injury when considering the absurd pricepoint the Vision Pro also has while being such a downgrade in so many regards.

Vision Pro has no GAMEZ! Other than showing people some virtual creepy eyes 👁👁 , what can Vision Pro actually do?!
