One of retailers' favorite analysis techniques to help them understand the purchase behavior of their customers is the market basket analysis. We'll use Tableau to perform a simple market basket analysis based upon default Superstore data.

Since I was looking for comparing specific end models (and its associations with around 1.5k different devices/models), your subcategory chart wasnt adequate for me, I made a cool table instead... but hell you gave me a wonderful push at the start when I was really stuck to kick off... thank you really really much!!

any idea why after creating inner join, row and column are uneven? Which mean, the sub-categories in row are not the same as sub-categories in column? reason that it is not identically flip? thanks a lot

Hey Anthony! Can you please share why you selected order id to be a distinct count measure. Shouldn't we be using just the "count measure" to have a more accurate result in terms of sub-category co-relation?

Hello Anthony, Its quite simple & neat presentation. I would like to ask you one doubt. I have cleaned data from python in single table. So in thi case no chance of joining multiple tables. Please help me how can I do in such situation. it is urgent to submit my project in next4 days. I am expecting your earliest reply. Thanks in advance.

In this example I use Tableau to self join the table to itself. Import your table into Tableau and see if you can try a similar self join depending upon how your data is organized.

So now I have a single CSV. please suggest if it working in Tableau. one more doubt for plan B, can we clean & treat data in Tableau itself. Many Thanks.

@@vaidyaification A self join allows you to join a table to itself. It requires only 1 table. Import your .csv to Tableau and join it to ITSELF as I do in the video. Tableau can do limited transformations by itself, but a better option is to use Tableau Prep (has a cost) or Power BI desktop (free) or your favorite SQL tool (e.g., SQL Server Express) to perform data transformations.

Is this possible when using tableau server as your data source? I searched length and breadth of the internet but I couldn't find a simple explanation to Market basket analysis like this, but can it be replicated using tableau server as data source (just one single tableau server for self join) ?
