1. The burger from 5 guys is 3 times the size. 2. McDonalds does not have decent buns just smashed cardboard. 3. the quality of beef. 4. its McDonalds selling point, cheap food.
idk where this mans from but even in places in the us where its not pricey at all to live in a burger from McDonalds over $5... I aint gonna pay that much for some bad burger id rather pay the $20 for a good big juicy burger with fries
@@mucholoko90 i a lot of Asian country it’s normal to bow to people to say thank you or when you meet them for the first time etc… He was surprised to see her do that since it’s not common in western countries
I was actually involved in the design of Five Guys’ new signage and digital menu system and the main reason they don’t like showing photos is simply because they feel that no matter how good the photography is, it can’t capture just how good their food tastes. In their words “photos of the food doesn’t do the food justice”. It’s also a cost cutting measure in that they don’t have to reshoot anything if there’s a change. There’s also the issue that the idea is it’s completely customisable and loads of combinations. So a photo could either put some people off or be a misrepresentation of the product. The idea of photos on the menu cheapening the product is more related to the classic cheaper fast food chains or Asian food menus with washed out photography.
"because they feel that no matter how good the photography is, it can’t capture just how good their food tastes." Fhugck offffff. You don't look at the picture to see how gauge how good it taste, you look at the picture to see whether you are interested. "There’s also the issue that the idea is it’s completely customisable and loads of combinations" Fhugck offffff. So why sub-way didn't see it as an issue? It is just a burger, if people who want to eat burger, look at your burger and don't want to eat a burger anymore. You have a problem. I have been to restaurants x3 more expensive than 5 dorks and they put pictures of their food on their menu. It looks beautiful so I ordered it. What does 5 sissyboys have to hide? To prevent people from looking at the burger and the price then have a realisation that they are paying this much money for a frigging burger from a fast food chain?
The cajun fries are my most favorite ever fast food fries and I don't think I'll ever regret paying extra for them however, five guys did give me real bad food poisoning.
workin at five guys for past 2 months i can easily say it is the best quality fast food i have personally worked in and the way we make our food in detail is insane
Very true. Just the other day I went to outback and chose not to get a certain meal cuz I didn't think it would be worth the money after I saw the photo of it on the menu. And then ordered a different item that was the same cost from the menu. But there was no photo of that item. Looking back on it I'd say they were worth the same amount
I highly respect this man. Not only for showing his kindness after interviewing strangers but for how he started and stayed persistent with uploads, trying new methods and making so much improvement. Very inspiring man. Love from Florida
Pictures give us an idea of what's going to be in the burger and is used when there's a variety of burger choices. When there's only a few choices in simple text on the menu of a well-known restaurant, you end up choosing the main/original burger on the menu out of faith that it's going to be good because it's what kept them in business. And the customers do find it good. For returning customers, it simplies their cravings from "what type of burger do i want (cheeseburger, quarter pounder, hamburger, etc)" to "I want a Five Guys burger"
Ngl its entirely justified imo. I'm not a fan boy of either; I've had five guys once in my life, mcdonalds I have maybe 2-3 times a year. The £11 five guys bacon cheese burger I had on my one visit was vastly better than anything I've ever had from mcdonalds, completely worth the higher price tag from what I ate.
With five guys you can customize your burger. So its allways worth it since you get exactly what you like and the topping dont cost extra so you can get 3 sauces and all the toppings. Also they give a shit ton of fries extra so your really full and satisfied. And free refills if you order a drinking cup which is absolutly not common in Germany, I really love that!
from a five guys employee - they actually don't show the pictures because every store is modelled exactly the same as the very first five guys restaurant - and they didn't have pictures on that original menu
Yes, I feel like whenever I see photos of food on the menus in a restaurant or fast food. I imagine it as being a cheaper restaurant or food place, than if there weren’t any photos
The real reason for no pictures is the fact that five guys started as a very cheap and minimalist company with as high of a focus on quality food as possible to get word about their establishment out through high reputation. They kept red and white checkered patterns and had a very limited menu to help achieve this cheaply. This is only the broadest overview, but hopefully it will help
as someone who worked at five guys, the food is is very high quality especially since i was the one prepping them with other people that i liked hanging around with
Tbh, I don't think his ultimate reasoning at the end is correct. I think it's actually because it is easy to imaging a more expensive burger looking tastier in your mind than trying to convince yourself the burger in the picture is going to be worth the relatively high price you see.
