tbh, as a nerd myself, i’m not that offended. it was obviously in the heat of the moment and he didn’t mean it in a derogatory or offensive way. while true that these kinds of words shouldn’t be used lightly, everyone makes mistakes and i think we should move past this as a community and hope that he has learned that some of us nerds may be offended if he uses this slur in the future. that’s all from me. later n-

You just predicted the future. Also the type of people who would react like that would most likely be nerds themselves. (I'd argue that trolls are a subspecies of nerd, a kind of backslide in the evolutionary chain.) Eventually human language and speech will be obsolete and phased out, once every word in existence becomes associated with something offensive. So be the future, be evolved. Communicate with grunting noises, or go the smurf route. If you only use one word for all nouns, adjectives and verbs, sure it'll be confusing but at least you won't be taken out of context, as there would be none.
