Marlin 39s are great guns! I had a 39M I bought in 79, accurate and I fed mine with any 22 I could find. Thanks for the video...

Some of these were sold by Sears of all places. They did have tapped screws for scope on them when new. The ones sold from Marlin directly did not. Have a 39a from 1954. Very accurate and I love it. Mine is also drilled and tapped for scope. Do some research on them, it's fascinating reading on all the history.

The 1950s 39a mounties that were sold buy Sears had the barrels tapped for mount. I've got a 1954 mountie tapped in the same spot. Later on marlin tapped the top of the receiver.

There have been so many variations of the model 39 over the years I don`t know how anyone keeps track. I remember as a kid I would always look at the guns in every new Sears catalog. They always had the model 39s and the cheap version of the 336 whatever it was called. Maybe the 30A?

I have mine my father bought me, a 1954 straight stock 39A (20” barrel but not Stamped Mountie) chambered for short, long, and long rifle. Action has never failed. It was not drilled for scope mounting, but later I did. Had the infamous Weaver tube scope mounted, but hated the eye relief. Finically mounted a Simons scope 3-9x/32 on it and can stack rounds. A family keep-sake, won’t part with it.

Great Rifles. I own two of the Mounties,1955 and a 1966. As already said Sears sold these with the scope holes on the barrel. You could also send yours to the factory and have it done at Marlin. My 1955 also has the barrel drilled for scope mount.

I like it without a scope. Since I got the cataracts fixed, I`m a lot less scope dependent.

Great vid! I also have a '55 39a Mountie that was given to me by my grandfather. Mine has the barrel D&T'd for a scope as well in the same spot. From my understanding the ones with the tapped barrel were sold through Sears with a Weaver N2 scope rings and scope or could be sent back to Marlin to have the mounts added for a couple dollars.

I had one as a kid and later for 40 years. Stolen once and returned a year later while in High school. I dropped it off a roof and broke the stock off. I sent it to Marlin and they returned it with a new stock and said there was a defect in the grain. NICE !

Some of them were drilled and tapped and sold with weaver scopes. These as described were sold by the SPIEGEL CATALOG COMPANY. SPIEGEL always put out premium products. Any of their Mossberg rifles were also decked out with the best wood and usually scoped.

Be interested to know how well it works. I have stayed completely away from anything that says Chiappa on it since I bought one of their 1911-22s when they first came out. I have never been able to get that little piece of scrap metal to fire a full magazine without jamming.

That action sound from the Model 39s is just something one does not get from the Erma/Ithaca/Henry rifles or even the Winchester 9422s.
@1957Shep
@1957Shep 3 года назад
Solid machined steel so well fitted you need to look close to see the seams. My favorite 22 lever gun is the Browning, because I like that short throw action with the trigger group coming down with the lever. But I have to admit the Marlin is a much more solid gun than the Browning, I just like the way the Browning action works better.

I always enjoy your videos, it's good to see you making them more frequently. I do notice though that your indoor segments show the firearms in a very yellow light. I would bet that you are using those curly fluorescent lights, those have a very narrow heat range. Some of the new LEDs give a more natural color rendition, but you could always use incandescent lights, the quartz lights for instance. I think you would find that that would make a big difference.

@1957Shep 3 года назад
If you don`t care what kind of lever gun, you can`t hardly find a gun shop that doesn`t have one of those little Henry rifles. If you want a Marlin or Browning, those are harder to find. And Winchester 9422s are real hard to find.
