It is so true what he is talking about. Those people there have never seen a child die of hunger, but the people who have seen that, like him and Michael, have made an impact in their lives. No child should go to bed hungry, Michael Jackson said that and it is so true !!
@Bill Patrick Jones what? Well the only reason is cos Michael Jackson was BLACK. also, he was internally bleeding, had arthritis, and a lot of other stuff. Even then he tried to help.
Thank you for posting this! I was there and it was so uncomfortable and shameful to hear the crowd’s reaction/to be part of that crowd. Booing such an iconic man with such an important message. The lack of understanding about why the message was relevant to Michael was shocking. This is a really valuable piece of footage as it wasn’t shown on the special (for obvious reasons). Most people probably have not seen it so again thank you for posting!
Wouldn't be surprised if the people screaming and distracting were set-ups, "plants" ,to stop others hearing that important message. Just like the fake activists who go looting and being violent and so destroying the credibility of an otherwise peaceful protest.
Even being overweight, old and having difficulty breathing, Brando was so damn attractive. Unfortunately people don't know what respect and compassion are. So sad and painful to see how hard it was for him to speak and move. Truly great and outstanding person.
I want to cry watching this. Marlon still kept talking despite people yelling, and I find that so commendable. It reminds me of when Michael tries to talk and people can't stop screaming for two seconds and just fucking listen.
My hope is that all of Marlon Brando‘s long lifelong experience fighting for social justice had his back in this moment to be standing there alone obviously he wasn’t well and he put himself out there when he wasn’t well to speak about such an important issue my hope is that he didn’t take that personally he was an intelligent man and understood the workings of things so I really hope that his heart wasn’t hurting and he could gain an objective perspective about herd ignorance
the Great Marlon Brando delivering a heartfelt speech only to be interrupted by ignorant people. My all-time favorite actor. Even at this age, he looks stunning, as classy as could be. Poor Michael, must have been extremely ashamed.
Exactly. Your comment is the most relevant comment here. This is the greatest example why Marlon hated the industry he worked in for so long. Just one word describes it all really, ignorance :(
Not likely. He was an 🐏🐏🐏(ARIES).And we don't like Peoples attraction or fame.We like loneliness & logical people(with class, introvert, smart). We know nothing is permanent.Neither our Wealth,Fame nor our wrong doings. We are helpful but in our way(Being lonely not praising by others).Because of Peoples not think that We are special or far behind of them. For this reason Peoples think fully opposite that We are egoistic & self centric. That is not true.We are Special(Some sort of ways)among all ZODIAC SIGN'S.
they need to get off their medications. Their good friends or parents should at some stage convince them to see a naturopathic doctor to get themselves clean, off their cocaine, marijuana, alcohol, whatever they're addicted to.
jesus i've never felt so ashamed as i feel after seeing and hearing those reactions to a such humble and respectful man who's talking about a very serious topic! this is something i would expect from beliebers but not MJ fans!!some people certainly don't understand his message, so disappointed right know. it also has nothing to do with age just lack of maturity smh :/
My bet is that they were paid shills of the same company of people who tried to get him convicted on false charges that they themselves are probably guilty of. Hollywood crap.
Ironically, 9/11 happened a few hours after Marlon's speech at Michael's concert, so the New York audience got to learn about people suffering & dying first hand in front of them. When the towers fell, these are the same people who expected the rest of the world to cry for them. Where were their tears when Marlon was telling them about the suffering of others?
Life works in strange ways. Sad that the only way some people can learn is when they experience it first hand. I wish Michael would have went on stage and condemned the audience period
He could sit there and say his peace without caring if he is disrespected as long as he gets his message across with confidence. May Marlon Brando, Michael Jackson, and Elizabeth Taylor rest in peace. 😔🌹
Paid shills with top connections . Otherwise how could they have secured a position so close to his mike to be able to disturb him? Just shows that Hollywood just like big business often doesn't care about anything but securing more power at our expense.
@@Ajidam I would be inclined to side with you, but I cannot approve of your homophobia-not only because I'm bisexual, but because Marlon Brando himself was bisexual.
i found this video on yt where mj had a simulcast chat with his fans and they asked him about any possibility of a tour in america, and he said like, i dont think so. this is probably the reason why mj preferred to entertain in other countries. i mean just look at the behavior of the audience here in marlon brando's speech
Apparently this audience was largely comprised of privileged people with no appreciation for their good fortune to even be there. I don't care how late the show got started; real MJ fans would NEVER have behaved this way. What a disgrace.
UNBELIEVABLE. how the audience is laughing and jeering to a heartfelt speech from Marlon. Some people like Marlon Brando are so valuable to our Society because they care about the unfortunates of the World. Look how Marlon responded for the American Indians in his lifetime and Michael with We Are The World, no wonder Michael and Marlon were close friends. Caring Loving Men. RIP Michael, RIP Marlon
Thank you so much for posting this. I have waited 8 years to hear this, this infamous speech. I only saw some small piece about it in the paper. The deleted it from the actual telecast. In case no one remembers this was just days before 9/11
I feel bad for Marlon here the fans are so disrespectful they are stupid, attention seeking and childish. What he was saying was true and they just wanted michael it's not all about michael
If Marlon or anyone wanted to make a speech at a place where there weren't "stupid, attention-seeking and childish" people interrupting, doing it live at the fucking Madison Square Garden where there are thousands of people who paid a lot of money to see Michael Jackson, a scenario known for thousands of years to generate human jubilee and energy, is among the WORST places to achieve that goal. I mean c'mon. Consider this analog to illustrate the point: yeah, it's wrong for someone to steal your car, no one should do that, but you parked the car in the worst part of town, loads of obviously shady people right there on the street, left tons of cash spread out on the seats, didn't roll up the windows, didn't lock the car doors, didn't even CLOSE the car doors and left the keys right there in the ignition. The other people around may be the slime for stealing the car, but there comes a point where it's YOUR fault for allowing it to happen for your wildly unrealistic expectations practically asking for someone to take the opportunity against you.
@@MeteoXavier You totally missed the point. Michael Jackson was all about "children being safe". When Brando made this speech, he was only repeating what Michael said countless times before: think of the children because they are all our responsibility and they could be our children, your children that are impacted. Children are dying every day from racism, starvation, malnutrition, disease, war, sex trafficking, slavery, racism.
I was there to see that! At first I couldn't believe that I was actually seeing Marlon Brando live in the flesh! This was after I was already shocked at seeing (thru some lent binoculars) a dais with Michael Jackson, Liz Taylor, and McCauley Culkin. Thinking this was a once in a lifetime moment further couldn't believe that he was talking about children being hacked to death or that he was asking for money. This wasn't aired because he was booed off the stage. Unreal
I am curious if the individuals who are displaying their moronic deportment ever apologise of regret their childish actions. To disrespect Mr. Brando, who is Mr. Jackson's friend and to mock a serious topic is a sign of no integrity or decorum.
Those people were so fuckin' rude. I mean come on! thats MARLON BRANDO show some mothafuckin' respect. Just like what Michael Jackson is to music, Brando is the same to acting, a fucking LEGEND. Not only is he a legend in the acting world and was a great activist but he was a close friend of Michael, if these people loved MJ so much they would'nt have disrespected his friend especially while he was on stage were Michael witnessed it. R.I.P Michael Jackson and Marlon Brando.
Right on ComptonCool Iv'e commented the same as you in the comments section, your so right and it's unfortunately also so sad! I just hope both Great Men are in heaven right now if you know what I mean cause I sure hope there is one!!!🙏👍
I agree, I feel sorry for both Micheal Jackson and his friend Marlon Brando, I'm a huge fan of both these men, both were tremendous humanitarians and entertainers in their perspective fields. RIP in Heaven forever Marlon Brando and Micheal Jackson. People on here are right many of these people in the audience should have showed more respect to both of these Great Men!!!! At least not all of them were like that. Please let the man speak, after all both M.J. and Brando worked tirelessly for us all to enjoy their Great entertainment in movies and song!!!!!!! Stay safe everyone!!!!!!!!!🤗✌️🙏
WE TOTALLY NEED THE VIDEO CLIP WITH NO NOISE /WAY LESS NOISE, SO THAT WE COULD HEAR THIS GREAT ONE SPEAK OMG.MCHAEL, YOU ARE CLASS ONE AND BEYOND .YOU KNEW PEOPLE AND THEN SOME..OH GOSH WOW.!!!!!.
They make me sick and not proud of many Americans who don't listen to what he's saying. Wake up young people. Maybe you need to experience hunger and starvation and maybe you will someday, let's hope not. Wake up, but you won't.
@meowthyy Like Janet Jackson said in one interview overseas(I can't remember if she was in Paris or Italy) she said that other countries really show great appreciation for American artists. Her guess was because other countries don't get to see these American entertainers as much and that America is 'spoiled'.
What a disrespect to a legend! The audience yelling and screaming and you couldn't understand what Marlon was saying. I'm a Michael fan too but if I am there I will be glued to Marlon 'cause Michael respected Marlon so much. I give respect to Marlon the way I give to Michael! These people have no idea who he was. I am sorry for them!!!
That was not fair to him. The treatment they gave him was deplorable. On seeing humanity's current state of consciousness, I wonder why the universe or god or whatever you want to name it hasn't come yet to rid from us. I wish I could have known you, Marlon :(
Again, just like his Oscar win, Brando used his platform and attention to advocate for those who were suffering, and the audience savaged him for it. Good thing he didn't care what people thought of him.
I agree but he’s so human and that had to be hard to be especially older and fragile like that because obviously his health was waning at that point to sit up there with a legendary background that he has in the boot when you’re talking about children suffering it had to hurt at the end of the day the man is still human.
I'm so saddened by this as an American. I think it's very important to remember that this was in NYC, just FOUR DAYS before 9/11, and these rude assholes (who all sounded shallow and drunk), who thought they didn't have a care in this world so they didn't care about anyone else's problems,, were about to get a SERIOUS wake-up call. Brando was TRYING to tell them about MJ's generous charity work in children's hospitals and was encouraging them to give, too. These assholes were crying later.
+lblythe01 Boo fucking hoo. There are people in certain parts of the world who don't have the luxury of being able to block out these kinds of atrocities from their mind because it's an every day reality for them. And these entitled cunts have the nerve to complain because they had to listen to an 8 minute speech before a concert? Get fucked.
+James Oakes I would be willing to bet that if brando wasn't known for being a bit out there he probably wouldn't be treated the way he was. though the fact that he actually took part in causes and really attempted to make a difference IE with native Americans should have given him some clout in that regard
@oismackhead I agree! .......... I can't believe these are fans of Michael. Any Michael Jackson fan knows that Marlon Brando was like a Dad to Michael (as Michael referred to Marlon as his 2nd father at the 2002 AMA's). I'm sure Michael wasn't happy about fans booing Marlon Brando, considering he's also giving a message Michael believed in and wanted fans to know.
I know that Michael Jackson is it quiet type of guy but I really feel like he should’ve stepped up there and said something to the crowd somebody should’ve said something
He's a great legend and here he is old and sick. Obviously this speech was physically very hard for him - what f***in matter how much he was paid?! Look at him! He deserved respect and honor because of his creativity, because of his age, because of his talent and because of his pains. Its so ashamed, terrible and disgusting!
He cared more about other people then his own children. Absent father. His daughter (rest her soul) killed herself. His son killed her boyfriend. Cheated on his first wife and brought the girlfriend home in front of her and his baby boy. What a guy!
6:03 Is that Elizabeth Taylor? I know she was a mutual friend of both Marlon Brando and Michael Jackson (and she starred with Brando in Reflections in a Golden Eye, after all).
So sad ,that it's happend to a great , intelligent ,awsome and wonderful actor. Poeple are so shamefu🤬🤬l, they didn't realized that they were with one on the last greatest Hollywood's star IT's sad for hi😪😪😪 RIP Marlon 🌺🌹🌼❣
The Americans... they alwasy say about "never forget this, never forget that." but when Mr. Marlon Brando speeching about the childreans dying, they're booing at him... I can't understand anymore, maybe this is the young generation trying to be "no class" in this time of the fucking world. RIP Marlon Brando, love from Vietnam.
Brando had it. He was the fucking man. He still had at the age of 77 and he didnt give a fuck about anyone booing him. He never did and never will. Im tattooing his face on my arm
What a travesty. I am surprised he continued, but then again if he only reached of few of them, well that is something. So painful to hear them. Marlon took the facts of hurt to people who had callous on their hearts. Brutal, disrespectful crowd. 😡
Disgraceful behavior and ignorance smh he’s talking about human suffering and these people are booing. Wow. Brando comes from a different generation of class and intelligence and he is the greatest actor of all time. I hope he didn’t take this personally. SMH.
Someone should have gone out on that stage and called that audience OUT!!!!!!! I can't watch this, it's horrendous. It makes me sooo very ashamed to be an American. But then there are alot of things that do that unfortunately. The only thing that keeps me here is the fact that leaving her isn't going to help change her for the better.
This is why the man hated Hollyweird, hated fame...and three years later, he would be gone! How freaking small and stupid these people were! It’s a true travesty.
If Michael had heard these idiots he would have escorted them out himself. Mr. Brando had something really important to say and no one listened... I can hardly listen because I can barely hear him! R.I.P Michael and Marlon
i wish i got to see marlon in person or ever talk to him.. these people probably thought he was a boring business man or something.. how rong they were
I am shocked but not so shocked at the crowd effect, the mass hypnosis of contempt and indifference. It makes people uncomfortable yet Michael wanted Marlon to say those things.
The hysteria of being swept up in this maelstrom of pop celebration encouraged intense disrespect and rudeness toward Brando. It's disgusting to watch; people showing such cruelty and shallowness, responding with cheap, mean-spirited joking, to this great man speaking sincerely about things he cares deeply about; things that are, for some reason, a little too unpleasant for them to dwell upon.
