You should do a dry build as it is, finish all the welding and fab work, then get it blasted and painted, so your building with all nice parts, and it’s finished as you build. Will be sweet 👌

Just an outsider looking in, but seems to me the most logical thing to do would be to set the new suspension under the frame, get it exactly where you want it, mark the new holes, remove the suspension, drill the new holes, then weld up and grind flush the holes you don't want, then sand blast and paint everything before permanently mounting the new suspension. A lot of work, but you will get the cleanest and most corrosion resistant end product.

Safety first James...chock that front axle on the Marmon so it will not roll forward or backward and get some railroad ties stacked up and rest the frame on those rather than on those flimsy jack stands alone! The potential risk that you are exposed to in this video is bloody scary man! An ounce of prevention is always worth a pound of cure! 😎

Id do your first idea mock it up center it. Weld up all the holes grind them smooth. Then pull it out. Have it sand blasted.. then prime paint reinstall...

the bolt pattern you currently have looks the same as the 86 379 were doing and we put a 2021 air trac cut off on it all the holes matched up, so far no drilling at all.

best time for replacement of the damage frame

Personally, for Black Betty, I would like to see, a murdered out truck! Black everything, stacks, wheels, tanks, no chrome, except the Marmon logo. Extended frame, air bagged so it sits low. Love the content man, keep on, keeping on!
