MARO - Saudade Saudade - Portugal 🇵🇹 - National Final Performance - Eurovision 2022 

My father passed away two months ago. We parted in bad ways and at the moment he died we were so estranged that I couldn't care. Last night I first listened to this song. I liked it. I listened to it in a loop. And somewhere I started to associate it to my father, and to all the good moments with him: when he taught me to love Pink Floyd, when we watched the football match together, the 9-hour marathon of LOTR we did when we bought the stereo system. Then I reminded he was gone, and that we couldn't reconcile anymore. And I started crying the tears I didn't cry for him. I don't know if this is what you Portuguese call saudade, but this song made me reconcile with my father's memory. And I thank you for this. So, I don't mind if you win Eurovision or not, you'll always be my heart winner.

Everytime portugal sent a representative gives us all chills. They don’t care if they win or not but they know they have good music.

Portugal's songs always have a type of feeling that you need to sit down and *carefully* listen with no interruptions, and I love that.

I've the word "saudade" tattooed on my skin. That's the most beautiful word in portuguese. Saudade of everything I lived when I was an Erasmus student in Lisbon. Muita força para a Maro desde Espanha e muitos abraços para os meus vizinhos portugueses :)

I researched Maro: world tour with Jacob Collier, returned to Portugal, made duets with many musicians - from Eric Clapton to Salvador Sobral, was praised by Tracy Chapman, Justin Timberlake, collaborated with Quincy Jones... She lived in the United States, studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston... Oh my...

I love that Portugal doesn't really try to follow the rules of making the stereotypical Eurovision song but instead sing from the heart. The more you listen to this song, the more emotional it is. Love it!

This song speaks to my soul! I love the mix of feelings that conveys. You feel sad, grateful, vulnerable, strong, all in once.

If I didn't agree when Portugal won a few years ago, this year I'm going to vote with both hands, and others phones not just mine, but that's not the point. But the charming thing is that looking in the comments section can see the Portuguese are relaxed, even if you like it or not their song, they are calm, unlike the Spanish people who crush you if you dare to say that their song is not good, the Italians and the French are somewhere in the middle so I can't say anything, but the relaxation of the Portuguese is to be appreciated, an example of "Latin" but controlled "blood". I have loved this song since the first time I heard it. It felt so real and pure but this live version with all the women around Maro bringing it another dimension, the way all the voices are complimenting each other, it gave me goosebumps. I have a deep deep love for this song, it's not only the interpretation, the instrumentation but also the lyrics, it's just in another sphere, another realm, it's just that feeling of missing something/someone, you can feel it in your bones. Such a strong feeling, the emotions conveyed here, I'm repeating myself but it's feeling so real and honest. At this moment I'm writing this comment, we're still missing two songs (Armenia and Azerbaijan) but to me it's my number one song of 2022 and it would be a worthy winner of the contest overall.
