One man in Worcestershire has built a 110 metre-long wall around his home to turn it into an island surrounded by flood waters.
Nick Lupton, 59, a retired mechanical engineer, spent four months last summer building a defensive wall around his 17th-century home to prevent the River Severn from lapping against his front door and windows whenever it bursts its banks.
Lupton had to re-mortgage his home, which sits on a floodplain close to the river, to build the reinforced concrete wall, which he said cost "about the same as a small extension".
