Nov. 6, 2023 update from what I experienced: Just left the Marrakesh airport and am in the city now. The SIM card stalls, (now outside of the Marrakesh airport luggage scan area), seem to have formed a cartel. They all offer only 20GB for 30 days, for 20 euro now, across the board, (I asked INWI and Orange, and they both only offer this one option!) No receipt was given when I asked. As it turns out, the hostel I’m staying in actually sells SIM cards for only a few euros and is tailored to my needs, i.e. 4 days vs. 30 days. So, don’t buy it at the airport. The problem is that when I was there, the Airport Wi-Fi was conveniently “not working,” which means, I had to buy a SIM card from these vendors. It’s funny how that works out.
Thanks for the update. I have also experienced the min 20euro sim top issue- I just take a free sim and top up later. No good if you need to contact someone. The airport Wi-Fi is generally working to make a quick call.
Yea the bus will stop at the main bus stops near jma el fna where the horse & carriages are. If unsure just tell the bus driver where you are wanting get off and he will stop for you.
Morocco in general is a cash society but major supermarkets and high end restaurants will take card payments but I would carry cash to be on the safe side. Ensure when withdrawing from a cash machine use a Al-Barid ATM which belong to the Post Office & are free to use.
Lovely clear information. Nice video bro. I have a question about cv19 vax status. I'm not vaxxed, if I tick no on the form, it is likely to be a longer exit process for me? And if I just tick yes, will they ask for any proof of vaccine status? I just wanna get out of the airport asap and be on my way
Hello What you put on the form will not impact on you going through immigration as the form is taken from you before you get to passport control. As for travelers from the UK there is no requirement to provide vaccinations. If you are traveling from elsewhere you need to check with your Government advice when traveling to Morocco . This is theink for the Moroccan Government website: www.maroc.ma/en Have a nice trip.
Thanks for the video. Is the small taxi really 100 dhs to La palmeria? Or is that person? Also will the driver use the taxi meter or do we have to force them to use it?
From the airport the fares are fixed as per info on the video, even for the small taxi. but if you take a small taxi any other time they must turn on the meter by law. Enjoy your trip 😊
@@darrenmascarenhas2148 yes definitely in the Palmeraie area - it’s way out of the city and from the airport so taxis will always ask extra !! But the rates are official and should not need to pay anymore .
Thank you for the video! We'll arrive at 23.30, do you know if I can find students with free sim cards? otherwise where can we get a sim card before leaving the airport?
Thanks for the feedback- as long as flights are landing the phone operators will be there. However, as it is Ramadan and they may leave early then there are phone shops in the Centre but more specific there is an orange shop opposite the khoutoubia mosque - See map link - La Table de la Koutoubia +212 661-618485 maps.app.goo.gl/AjHyPbP9VNZvtqgi9?g_st=ic
@@Pakoraman thank you for the answer. We need the sim card before leaving the airport as gps to reach the hotel because we have a rented car. Just in case, do you know if there is a phone shop inside the airport? We'll arrive after the end of ramadan.
If you go thru to departures as in the video there a convenient shop just on your right side - - not sure he sells SIM cards though! Best to download a map app called maps.me- it’s free but you must download the maps for marrakech before you leave. It works off line so you won’t need a sim immediately. I hope that helps. I have maps.me in marrakech and works fine If all else fails then use the data on your uk sim
Thanks for pointing this out - the health questionnaire is not a requirement anymore so that is why the link is not working. I will update it in the description- thanks again Have a good trip 😊
Excellent guide thanks. Is there an atm that can be used before the desks giving SIM cards ? If not do they except euro or Sterling/dollars? Thanks 0:28
Hello Neil All the atms at after you the baggage area. After global exchange there is another exchange which give you a more preferable rate. However, the students that sell the sims card will take euros or sterling but because of the conversion it will cost you 25% more. You can take a sim for free and top up later. If you need to contact a driver outside who is collecting you you can try & use the free airport Wi-Fi.
Thanks for the swift reply. So in summary it’s probably better to change a small amount at the more preferable exchange desk than pay in another currency. Thanks again 😊
Yes if you need data immediately- the top up are either for calls or data so ask for data to make calls back to the uk using WhatsApp Have a nice trip.
The video says #19 bus is 4 Dirhams each at 2:04, then later at 3:39, it says 30 Dirhams "each return." I don't get it, why is it 4 Dirhams one way, then 30 Dirhams return?
Hello The price is referring to 2 different buses. @2.04 this is a local bus which you catch from the main road outside the airport. The 30 dirham bus is the one you see at the end of the video in the car park of the airport. I hope that clears things up. Also see follow up video about the new taxi booking service . ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ojkwu1nj_bM.htmlsi=a47mvz_iw3J_izAD Enjoy your trip 😊
@@Pakoraman OK, the 30 dirham is for Round Trip, which means you will take the same bus back to airport, right? Then, you have to figure out where and when to board, to return to the airport for your flight.
@@Birdylockso yes 30dh for return so keep hold of your ticket. There are fixed bus stops and if you ask the driver he will confirm where you catch the bus in your return.
Thank you this guide is amazing. Does the rates at the exchange booth in the arrival hall similar to the ones in downtown? If i wanted to top up the sim at the airport, can i pay in USD instead of Dh?
Hello Best is to withdraw dirhams from the cash machines in the arrivals hall and the SIM card stalls are located in the same place now. Always pay in local currency so you don’t lose out when paying in USD. The rates in the Centre will always be better than the airport so if you do need to exchange just do a small amount. Also check out my latest video featuring the new taxi booking service from the airport. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ojkwu1nj_bM.htmlsi=ArIbvn-e27z_l8BC Enjoy your trip 😊
@@Pakoraman Thank you for this amazing guide video. But does the rates at the exchange booth in the arrival hall similar to the ones in downtown? Kindly, Omar
@@Omar-wj3zw Salams Omar Yes you will always get better rates in Jma el fna but the arrivals hall rates not too bad . just don’t use the guys in the area immediately after security where you collect your luggage.
So to get to the bus stop after exiting the airport is 10 min walk? I am thinking of exchanging some USD to dirham at the airport just to pay the bus. Also, do you think is better to exchange USD at a currency exchange store or ATM?
The local bus is a 7-10 walk to the main road and ti get to the centre you will need to cross over to the far side of the main road. Best to use a free ATM, the Al Barid machines are free others may charge. If exchanging at the airport then just a small amount is best and use the exchange shops in the Centre for further currency or just use free atm again.
Asalamalaikum Syed, there are no requirements for Covid test in Morocco 🇲🇦 It’s always best to check Government advice before traveling to any country. See link to UK Foreign Office www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/morocco Enjoy your trip 😊
Nice video!!! Are all travelers still required an entry stamp to get into Morocco at Menara airport? I will go to Morocco this year and I wonder if this requirement is lifted. Can I buy the entry stamp at the airport? How much is it? Thanksss!!!
Hello I’m not sure what you mean by ‘buy the entry stamp’? If you are referring to a visa on entry then I can I to tell you visitors from the UK are given a visa on entry free of charge. If your are not from the Uk you need to check entry requirements for your country with the Moroccan Government website.
I’m not sure what you heard or who you heard it from but it is not practice I have experienced visiting Morocco so nothing for you to be concerned about.
Some questions : Is it visa on arrival for UK passport holders ? What is the cost of the visa ? Where is best to exchange UK GBP or preferable to use ATMs ?
Hello Visa on arrival for British passport holders which is free of charge. Best to use ATMS or the money exchange as in the video in the departures area. There are numerous exchange places around the city but in the main square - try hotel Ali for best rates Current exchange rate on the ground in Morocco is 12.20dh to £1
Not 24hrs I believe they close around 11.30pm If you arrive and need money and they are closed you can use one of the cash machine as you come out of security
I never take a taxi from the airport I always take the local bus from the main road. You’re probably better speaking to people on your flight or in the immigration queue to ask anyone wants to share. It all depends where they staying & where you are staying. There is a new taxi ‘desk’ due to open to book a taxi without being ripped off- not sure in operation yet but I will update next when when I visit Have a nice trip

Salams Brother You must check with the Moroccan Foreign office to see what requirements are for your origin country. www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/a-z-list-of-countries/morocco/ If traveling from the United Kingdom all restrictions have been lifted. The only requirement for all travelers is you have to complete a health questionnaire either on arrival or before travel and print it. See description of the video for the link. Happy travels 😀
great video! For the health form, is it ok if I leave "Phone N° in Morocco" blank? Not sure how to get a Morroccan number until I get a sim card at the airport
Thanks for the feedback - just write your own mobile number and put ‘WhatsApp’ next to it - so if you do use a local sim WhatsApp will ask you if you want to stick with your original number. That’s just in case you are contacted!
Nice, but the controls are soooo slow. They have 33 passport control booths, but only 20 are open. For the amount of people it should be at least 40. The police put a stamp and after 10 meters there is a line to control the stamp. 😂 Lines are just an opinion. Who is first or last is a matter of who pushes his way more. 😮😅
Yes they in Morocco they do like to stamp things but more importantly it’s for everyones security. The same thing happens when foreign tourist arrive in the UK they wait in a queue. 😊
Hello - 2 wks asap only approx 20 mins. It’s not something you can do anything about so not need to worry. Get you place in line & if required there are toilets you can use if you have some with you keeping your place. It can wary from 5mins to 40mins - all depends on how many flights land at the same time 🤷♂️
It’s a baggage check done by customs officers after you have collected you bags and before you can leave for the arrivals area. Is that what you were referring to?
