Just as a disclaimer for the video: I am a big fan of Morocco. There are more good people than bad people and I really enjoy everything that this beautiful country has to offer. What's you favorite part of Moroccan culture?

I’ve booked to go next year, I’ve watched many videos on the area and this one has made me feel like I’ve made a huge mistake in booking, it’s given me the vibe that I’m going to get into arguments with sellers and the place will be full of garbage, and will totally overwhelm me and stress me out! Where I’m looking for excitement and markets full of spices and rides on camels with new foods to eat and strangers to talk to, to laugh with and enjoy the sunsets and the history. I didn’t get any of that here watching this 😢

I hated Morroco. I could not wait to get out if that country. They try to rip you off every time. Every time. It’s so hard to get a straight price for everything and certainly, they will manipulate you into overpaying every, every single time from vendors taxi drivers, everyone!

Not sure if you've gone yet, but we just got back from Marrakech. It was great overall aside from some hassling in the square but if you stand firm it is easy to avoid any problems. Stay away from the snake charmers and monkey people. Food and architecture + souks were really interesting. Also on haggling, we were advised start on 20% of the initial price given and if you get 40% that's a good deal
@SheetzChills
@SheetzChills 5 месяцев назад
I'm in Marrakech and can't wait to leave, the haggling is a joke that often feels uncomfortable. It's noisy, dirty and not much to do. I know I am going to upset a lot of people, but save yourself the trouble and stay away. I have been here for 3 days and am checking out and heading to Rabat..... I believe it is clean and you can walk about without getting harassed every five minutes !!!!....... I am so disappointed with this place !!!!!

About your question on the roads being sometimes closed, that usually only happens on Fridays during Jomoaa prayer times (noon-2pm usually), which is when all the muslim men are supposed to leave anything they're doing and gather in a Mosalla (Outdoors mosque kinda, any place outdoors could also be grounds for the prayer). In the ancient medina, some streets will be fully closed becaused they're filled with people praying and you won't be able to go through them until they are finished. Such a sight to see but sadly, it doesn't happen that often anymore post covid.

You really summed it up pretty good when talking about the food experience and how it kinda aligns with how Marrakech could feel like 👍. I'm not surprised you liked that plate of Loubia and tanjia , I my self come from the states straight to those little street food restaurants inside the Medina cuz man oh man , their food is the sh** .

We were in Marrakesh last week and were told we couldn' t go down a road because it was closed. We could ... but people were praying outside the mosque in the street because the mosque was full so we had to be quiet and pass them respectfully. I can understand why they say the road is closed as some people are very noisy and are not aware or respectful of others.

Thank you, brother, for this good reportage. Imagine that I have never visited this city in my life, even though I am from the country, and this city is considered the most important in Morocco for tourism if I do not say in Africa. As for the issue you raised, that the city of Fez and Marrakesh have some places that are difficult to visit and dangerous. Yes, these two cities have an amazing population density and a large popular population. I mean, there are popular neighborhoods where work is lacking and drugs and crime spread. Marrakesh, from outside Morocco, there are those who consider it truly Morocco due to its wide fame, and Djemaa El-Fna Square is the most famous place in it at all... In the end, my regards to you, you know a lot and I said things, and I swear to God, there are many people in the country who are ignorant of it.

I liked Marrekech during my visit but that was at a time where the city was filled up with tourists and pre-covid and there was an international festival happening so it might have had an different effect. All in all you can see the city is just overrated and made into an city which would " represent" Morocco and the whole Arab world even tho its not and the people there are suffering mainly because of covid and lack of oppertunites. The city needs an do over an not an new city center full of malls and parks.

Scammers and bad people are everywhere, no matter the country we're talking about, people are born good and merciful, but rich people back in history taught us a lot of things, how to be assholes, how to steal without being noticed, how to be sneaky and hypocrites, and they still, they are the best scammers ever: what about politicians in US gouvernment ? For me, those people do what they are supposed to do to feed their family, they suffer because of the rich. So we're talking about a trendy behavior all over the world.

@SendMoreParamedics13
@SendMoreParamedics13 Год назад
What a foolish comment. Not being born into "certain opportunities" doesn't give anyone the right to rip off and scam people. Getting scammed is not "all a part of traveling". All it does is give that place, and it's people, a bad reputation- and makes things worse for locals trying to make an honest living. I've been to plenty of countries where people live on poverty, but they're still honest and hardworking. Those are the people I'm going to willing tip. Not some scammers try to charge $30 for a two second photo op. Warning people and showing REALITY is hardly "snitching".
@mushahidsyed7604
@mushahidsyed7604 Год назад
How is that even snitching? He is letting people know how some street vendors treat tourists, being aggressive for money is wrong no matter how poor you are. " fills up the room with this particular vibe".. what are you afraid to say..."They all stood over me and were being very aggressive"..why didn't you show this footage...you looked shook..instead of projecting your insecurities onto people you should own your fears..a couple of men trying to make a living does not aggressive make..where do YOU come from that you are this uncomfortable with a little banter?

In your other video, you inroduce yourself as Pierce, which is not a Serbian name. Are you really from Serbia? If not, I do not think that it is fair from you to misrepresent the travelers from Serbia in other countries. Stop doing that. Your Wikipedia knowledge of history is above the level of an average traveler, but your comment on Sufism was fairly superficial. OK, I understand the time constraints in the video. However, sufism is much more complex than you state. And you should state so. Advice to you and your viewers, if you allow me, do no accept any services wherever you travel before asking how much they will cost you. In the West, if you want to photograph someone on the street, you have to have a permission to do that. Why do you think that you can treat people in non-Western countries any differently? If you do not agree to the requested price, renegotiate it, or move on. Also, don't you think that it is fair to charge people who have more money higher prices? Many Westerners love going to third world countries hoping to exprience royalty treatments, to feel rich, something they cannot get at home. It's an ego flattering activity. If you can't handle the higher prices for foreigners, then stay home. That is the best way to support the planet Earth (less CO2 emission) and your local economy. Scammers will always be scamers and post-colonial profiteers will always be post-colonial profiteers.
@TalesFromTheRoad
@TalesFromTheRoad 2 года назад
Thanks for taking the time to write a long comment. I disagree with pretty much everything you said, except that Sufism is complicated. It's very complicated. You should also stop trying to tell people what to do. It's a very weird internet trend that serves no purpose at all.

Im confused by the term tourist traps or scams, you are in a touristic city hence why price is fairly high and locals will obviously try and earn a buck or too as its their means of earning. Go to London city for a can of coke you pay well over 1.50 whereas in local shops outside of london you pay half the price, food souvenirs etc cost double the price in london city but very cheap outside of london city, so by all means dont travel stick to your country if you hate the fact that touristic holiday destations are abit expensive.
