For anybody interested, this has now been officially released on CD. It is included in the boxset Exposures, released by Fripp in 2022.

Heavenly. With Fripp's commitment to publishing archival material, I wonder why he hasn't released more Frippertronics--one of my favorite genres of his many-storied career.

Ten years later... Fripp has recently re-released Let The Power Fall (one of my Fripp favorites) and Washington Square, a live recording of Frippertronic performances. Let The Power Fall, being a recording of Frippertronics, but don't believe those to be live performances.

The original LP lists the dates and venues: Tracks 1 & 2: Robson Square Theatre, Vancouver, August 4, 1979; track 3: Tower Records, Berkeley, July 30, 1979; track 4: Robson Square Theatre, Vancouver, August 6, 1979; track 5: Walker Arts Center, Minneapolis, June 22, 1979; track 6: Mabuhay Gardens, San Francisco, July 29, 1979. An edit of track 1, "1984", was released as the B-side of the League of Gentlemen single "Dislocated". Since it is only a section of the piece, it was retitled "1984 (January 13th - May 16th)".

Please visit it at your earliest convenience: Dozens of Frippertronics performances have been released officially by the artist, and your purchase of them will enrich him directly & encourage more such releases. The show from Rochester NY on July 6 1979 is my personal favorite: It features two loop creations which clock 20+ minutes and are rapturous. The Chicago Soundwarehouse gig too -- Cheers!!

Thanks--I didn't know about the archive website. I saw the Frippertronics show at Peaches in Denver, 21 July 1979. Incredible.

Percussion, bass and high volume cause wide wiggles in the groove. This has none of those, so the wiggles can be tiny. 11:43 is still surprising though, isn't it?

I wish there was a better way for fans to hear this, which I believe was the only official pressing germane to the era with a solo element over the looping. I know how much misery the artist has had in wresting control of his back catalog from the forces of indifference, and truly hope that a remastered authorized version can be released for us to purchase & enjoy in the near future.

Ten years later... If Fripp had a problem with this being posted, you would have long ago been contacted. He's extremely diligent about making sure his material isn't on RU-vid, or at least that's what Rick Beato told me in a private correspondence. I asked Beato why he never covered King Crimson material, or interviewed Fripp, and he said DGM/Fripp aggressively policed RU-vid for infringement, and was very unpleasant when approached about an interview. That struck me as weird, as he's done tons of TV and magazine interviews over the years, so why he balked at Beato is beyond me, as Beato really is passionate about music. Meaning, it's not just to enrich his channel, but to make the content available to his fan base, for the betterment of all musicians. Not unlike Guitar Craft!
