Robert Fripp is one of the most unique guitarists and musicians on the planet. I've been listening to him with King Crimson and on his own since the early 70's. He's absolutely brilliant. Years ago, I saw him at the Bottom Line in NYC with John Scofield and Al DiMeola, what a fantastic show. Amazing Talent!!!!!!!
Clouds remind me of my home state Oregon for the usual 8 or 9 months of the year. Bleak. Gray and majorly wet. It fits well with Robert Fripp's sounds. Excellent! Haunting!
I've been a fan of Fripp and Frippertronics for decades yet somehow I managed to not hear this track until now. Fantastic stuff. Utterly haunting and powerful. LOVE IT.
Incrivel , lindo ,simplesmente divino .
For the few morons who gave this beautiful music a 👎I have a question: Do any of you even know what ambient musis Is ??This is one man creating an inspired masterpiece of music.
Este es el primer tema que escuché de Robert Fripp, y lo considero sencillamente cautivador. Es una maravilla de introspección, y un regalo para los oídos.
Does anyone know where online I can find a text version of the tribute he wrote for his mother , in the sleeve of A Blessing of Tears"? I've looked everywhere and cant find my CD which I safeguarded so well that even I can;t find it.
I also miss a radio show from the eighties in L.A., a Cal. poly. station with a show called Braincookies. the jocks pseudonym was Splat Winger.....I recorded those shows I was often unable to find the music that Mr. Winger played.
big rf fan for years. saw him do soundscapes many years ago. could someone explain to me how he makes these sounds. it goes far beyond a 'loop' system. thanks, c
Essentially, he plays thru Eventide Harmonizers,2 or 3 units, in parallel-serial output routing signal. It's amazing what you can do with these machines. I bought a 10 years old Eventide 4000 ,and every now and then I play with it. I always discover something new.. Figure it out in the hands of a genius like RF..
Volume swells are fundamental, as is a sustainer pick up. Some notes are doubled octaves up/down with pitchshifters (eventides) and probably slightly detuned to achieve an effect of ensemble.
According to the liner notes of the album this piece is from, A Blessing of Tears, a lot of it centers around what would have been the passing of his mother, who Fripp credits as having encouraged his becoming a guitarist. I view the soundscapes series, particularly this and That Which Passes among others, as partly meditations on grief.
How dare either of you judge Robert Fripp. He is a Master. All the Masters I've met, including Robert, have a clear understanding of themselves and their mission. They don't waste time with mediocrity. Most folks like you two, never get them. They don't care. Which is really sad for you to miss out on what they can teach you. Because they have so much to teach with whatever discipline they have Mastered. Plus by their very example of how they live, they teach so much. So please don't judge. Grow up ditch the ego and learn from the Master. You can start by asking yourself, what in you makes you feel like you you have the right or intelligence to even judge a Master like Robert Fripp. Wake up! It's time to learn something! Thank you Robert Fripp for everything you have given us. You are truly a blessed individual. KEH
Well...it was Boston, When G3 took Fripp on tour with them. We called ahead of time and the lady said Fripp was going on in one hour. The time of my call was 4PM. She said he wants to go on without anyone in the audience. My son and I arrived and there he was. He had that weird aura around him. I walked up to the stage b4 and note was played and said 'hello'. He looked at me, shut his eyes and then completely froze on the spot. Frozen for more than 60 secs, I realized he was not going to respond. I turned and walked away. In our society, it's considered etiquette to respond politely.
