@nickybee703

The reason they are so blue is twofold; first, the vivid blue coloration occurs in most crustaceans and is an extraordinarily rare occurrence stemming from a mutated recessive gene that only happens to around 1 in 2 million of the species. Second, the reason they have so many is that they are commercially farmed and the "farmers" likely bred blue marrons together to increase the likelihood of the mutation in the offspring as the bright blue marron can probably be sold at a much higher price than they're standard brown/black counterparts.

Why are the claws of marrons so small in proportion to the body? Do their claws get proportionately bigger and closer to the width of the body as they grow older? We've all seen yabbies with claws bigger than the body itself. Why is the marron different?

almost there a type a crawfish, land and freshwater, not open seawater, and they generally,... in the usa eat rice barely and worms vs fish and clams that lobster eat. lobster are scavengers/predator crawfish are scavengers.

Red when cooked. Genera Cherax. Natural food items are invertebrates living in bottom detritus. In ponds pellets will integrate as needed. The colouration on these is amazing; I've only ever seen a few that bright.

Are marrons the same thing as yabbies? They look similar except for thay gorgeous blue color. How in the world did they evolve into blue? Crayfish (our version of the yabby) will have changes in color depending on the water and bottom type, but I've only ever seen them in shades of light brow, dark brown, and a sometimes reddish hue to match the red clay we have here. You would think that dark blue would make them vulnerable to predators.
@XxXMidnightblackXxX
@XxXMidnightblackXxX 8 лет назад
They're in the same family, marrons are naturally black/brown, these guys in the video are captive bred ones with a natural blue mutation that is rare in the wild. Yabbies, marron, crayfish ect are all in the smae family but are different species.
