For the intro riff if you want to count it out in 8th notes it’s 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4. Counted in 8th notes just like he does in the other riffs. So in the context of 8 measures of 4/4 like the clean guitar intro it’s 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4. For the intro and choruses it’s played over 16 measures of 4/4 so it’s 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4 4 I’ll add that each line of 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 is a measure of 15/4 as Yogev showed in the video.

Now, i bet Meshuggah will be able to play this live. They could use this as their click track.

Can they ?

The reason they don't play it live is because it uses 2 different tunings simultaneously. Polyrhythms never got them down.

Most impressive. I love the way a Meshuggah rhythm can come together after listening to it enough times to where you can just intuit it. But some, like the one you deciphered here, i could never feel out in a million years. Thanks

Hey Yogev, ya should totally check out the band Intronaut. The songs Fast Worms, Sul Ponticello and The Direction of Last Things would make great anlyzing vids, I think. Keep it up 🤘

Hi Yogev, as so many others, I am glad that you are back! I love your videos, they have inspired me to listen and to find new aspects on different kinds of music. And although I still don't like the music of Meshuggah yet, I like and appreciate your style of analysing. But most of all, I want to thank you for leading my attention to Tigran Hamasyan. His music means very much to me and I am sure that I would not know him without you highlightning him. So THANK YOU! Warm regards from Germany!

Meshuggah is like if scientists/mathematicians reconverted to music for fun. Which sounds even crazier when you consider these guys have zero formal training, except for their bassist.

Have you ever considered doing a time consuming episode on TesseracT? I'd love to hear your interpretation of some of their songs like Natural Disaster, concealing fate part 1 and 2, war of being etc.

Meshuggah is like watching incomprehensible wonders of higher beings. Watching Yogev just confirms, that this music is indeed made by higher beings, not intended to be comprehended by mere mortals.

i believe the irregularities in the patterns are somehow anchored by the lyrics? i think this could be useful when decoding such songs. lovely work, as always 🩶

They could play it live with a second guitar on a stand like any other band does when they use electric and acoustic/classical guitars in the same song... Or they could use a 9 strings

if you want a "micro" representation of the riff ">" are slides. you can make a better representation if you include low/high notes 2 2> 2 1 2 2> 2 1 2 2> 2 3> 2 1 2 2>

I got you! It’s 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4. Counted in 8th notes just like he does in the other riffs. So in the context of 8 measures of 4 like the intro it’s 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4. For the intro and choruses it’s played over 16 measures so it’s 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 3 4 5 3 4 4 4
