The Marsh Link traditionally ran as a shuttle service between Hastings in East Sussex and Ashford in Kent. Trains currently run from Eastbourne, although in the early 21st century the service ran all the way from Brighton. It is one of only two diesel lines on the Southern network and our journey climbs out of Hastings at a gradient of 1 in 60. There are two tunnels under the hills that surround Hastings. There are Mount Pleasant Tunnel and Ore Tunnel, either side of Ore Station.
